Transfer Paper Disaster...HELP!

First I have a red t-shirt that I got from Hobby Lobby and I ironed a transfer onto and the red t-shirt bled through onto the transfer sheet.

I did everything that I was told. I prewashed the t-shirt with no detergent, softener or fabric sheets.

I never put water in my iron so it was completely dry and the t-shirt was completely dry. I washed and dried it completely and it sat for 12 hours.

I let the transfer paper sit for 30 minutes after I printed on it...so what did I do wrong. Has this happened to anyone? What should be white on the trasfer paper is now pink...and I can't get the guys in my family to wear it that way.

The transfer paper that I used was Amy's. I looked at samples on her website and there was a red t-shirt that had been ironed on without this problem.

HELP! I have to get these completed before my trip on Sunday!!!!

I would guess you ironed too long. I have had the color come through the transfer a few times and that was the problem. Try cutting down your ironing time.

I am sorry this happened! that is a bummer. I know I was petrified doing my shirts fearing something would go wrong, but thankfully everything was ok.

I am not sure though what might have happened. Did you email Amy? She is super nice and helpful, and I am sure she could offer an explanation or give you an idea.

I used Amy's transfers last week and ironed designs on red shirts, each different brands and different shades of red. I prewashed the shirts *with* detergent and only with dark colors, dried them and then they sat for a few hours. IME, you need detergent to get the extra dye out of the fabrics if there is any leftover.

I then printed the designs and ironed them on no problem. Maybe the shirt you used had extra dye and the heat made it stain the transfer? Or using no detergent loosened the dye and it was not washed out? :confused3

I ordered from jiffyshirts and used the Gildan brand and the Hanes beefy t brand. They ship super super fast, do you have time to get new shirts?

Good luck!

I spoke with Amy...she was quick to reply. I rewashed with detergent... :-) I thought one of the threads said not to use detergent. But that wasn't the problem...it was my iron was too hot. Unlike other transfer paper...the iron shouldn't be on the hottest setting, you don't have to use a lot of pressure and you can over iron.

Thanks for all the feedback!
