I'm looking to gift a small contract we own to my sister and brother-in-law. How does one go about doing that?

You can either pay a title company to do it, for a cost of around $350 to $800, depending on the title company. PLUS, there may be additional filing fees with Disney and with Orange County
Florida. More money in this case does NOT equate better service or results, but I would MAKE SURE to choose a title company that is familiar with Disney and familiar with the process. There are multiple title companies that do business with the DVC Reseller Sites, and any one of them could do it for you. Do not be shy about asking them how much they charge.

A second option, if you are willing to do a bit of work yourself is to search these user boards and websites and there are threads available that tell you EXACTLY, step by step, how to do it yourself. I think it isn't that hard to do, but there are about 10 steps you need to go through. AND then you must also pay filing fees of around $150, plus I believe you will need to pay the maintenance fees for the whole year before you make the transfer.

Other people might have more experience with this.

I definitely think we would just pay a title company to do, then it is done right with zero hassles! We have purchased a few resale contracts and can just look back to see who can help us.

One other question.....how does ROFR work with this?

If it is a gratuitous transfer, between family, they will usually just waive ROFR.

People have reported using LT Transfers and had great luck and it’s cheaper than the one I used via Disney which was $475 last year with First American

I think the MUST waive Right of First Refusal for Gratuitous Transfers, so long as it is truly a gift, rather than a hidden resale, and so long as the paperwork is done right.

I recently used LTT Transfers and I highly recommend them. Just be aware due to Covid it's a long process. I began the end of June....my deeds were recorded on the Orange County site on Sept 17 and I have not heard from Disney and the names on the website have not been updated. We had no reason to be in a hurry until my daughter questioned if she'd get the DVC discount on shop disney!!!
