Transfer confusion

I tried searching for an answer, but I think I am confusing myself more.

We are going to SSR in January 2022, we will be using all of our 2021 points and will be borrowing the 50% max from 2022. This will leave us short 36 points we need. I am going to look to transfer points off of the rent/transfer board. I am aware I made need to buy more points than I need, but that is ok. We have a SSR contract with an April use year.

Obviously transfer points from SSR/April would be ideal, but not extremely likely. So would an April use year regardless of the resort be best? I assume I would need 2021 points, correct? I'm trying to get this straight in my head and the more posts I read the more confused I get.

You simply need points that are valid for a January 2022 trip. Assuming you have not gotten any transfers you can get any 2021 points as all are valid for that time.
