For those who have gone on a transatlantic cruise, what do you do on sea days to keep yourself from getting bored?

I have been on several 2 week cruises including Panama Canal and Transatlantics and I am NEVER bored. They have all kinds of different activities, seminars, guest speakers, trivia, special entertainment and I enjoy just hanging by the pool or reading on Deck 4. Love the sea days on a longer cruise.

We didn't stop on our 14 night EBTA in 2013. We were upset when we did get to Europe and had to get off :)

It was something in the back of our minds as we do not like to sit around a pool all day and we had been on a Norwegian Fjords cruise before the EBTA with P&O. The 2 sea days we had on that cruise we were climbing the walls and we were worried that we were going to be bored on the EBTA. We did that cruise a year before the EBTA because it was cheap, from the UK and we wanted to do a taster cruise to see if it was for us.

We were so wrong. We did Disney trivia, had a hour or two around the pool each day as we had the most wonderful weather, did the drinks tastings, Palo, we had a Disney legend doing drawing seminars for us (not Ducky Williams!) watched films in the theatre, John Charles did special music entertainment in the day as well as the night. The days just flew by and we had to rush back to our staterooms to get changed and ready for dinner and the show each night because we were always busy doing something.

I think its a cruise everyone needs to try. I've never heard anyone say they were bored after a longer cruise with DCL. Have you cruised before?

The TA cruise has all kinds of extra activities that aren't on normal cruises. They had special entertainer and shows, lots of movies. I too got a drawing from Ducky Williams which was great. We have another finally booked for next September, I can't wait. In fact that TA was our favorite cruise of all time.

We did the EBTA last year and there was so much to do. Special talks in the theatre, extra things like the dining room head servers running a seminar on how to set up for a dinner party, additional character meet and greets (like one with the Fab 5 plus Daisy, Chip, and Dale all together in one shot)...I don't think I even opened the book I brought with me to read.

I would love to do another one, in the meantime I've booked a Panama Canal cruise. :)

We haven't done a Transatlantic yet, but on our 10 night Hawaiian cruise, we had 5 straight sea days. Our highlight of the sea days was the special backstage tour of the Walt Disney Theater they offered. We had done 11 cruises before this one and never got to do this. We were told they only do it on longer cruises.
Get their early, the line forms quickly. :)

Have fun!

I'll 2nd everything Tink1987 said. We were on the same cruise and have done Panama Canal since. I truly cannot get over how I am never bored. Which is a good thing for me as I cannot take sitting around for very long. The days pass all too quickly and you wonder where the time has gone. They are great trips.

I've completed two transatlantic cruises and sea days are my absolute favorite. They are plenty of activities do to keep you busy such as specialized tours and character meets. I also enjoy going to the movies, having brunch at Palo's, enjoying a spa day or a full day in the rainforest room, maybe participating in the various trivia games, I might even consider lounging by the pool or riding the AquaDunk several times in a row. I've also enjoyed going to my stateroom to take a nap in the middle of the day. I hope this helps.

I've done several TA's and loved every one! You will not be bored. I very rarely can sit still and I have never found myself bored. Stuff I've done:
  • Cookery classes every sea day
  • quizzes (usually one or two a day)
  • animation classes
  • adult activities in the kids clubs
  • open house events in the kids club
  • pool deck activities such as parties or ice carving
  • bingo (although this can be expensive)
  • movies by the pool or in the theater
  • backstage tours of the theater and the galley
  • craft class - both adult only and family ones
  • scavenger hunts
  • alcohol tastings (paid for)
