Can anyone please give me an idea of what a taxi from the Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral would be? It is for 2 adults and 1 child. Any other suggestions for transportation to Port Canaveral? Thanks for your help.

kdm:

There are lots of transportation options other than a cab. I don't really have an idea how much a cab would be, but it's a 50 minute to an hour drive, so it would be LOTS!

Dave_from_Marietta has lots of rental car options on his site. I'm a brick when it comes to the link things, so just look for one of this posts on here, and it's got his page in his signature (Thanks Dave for doing this)!

ALso, Disney does bus transfers. For our family of 4, it was cheapest to rent a car one way.

Good luck!

We rented a mini-van for one day when we landed and drove it the port. It was by far the cheapest way to go with our family. We found a great code at www.mousesavers.com and used it when booking online at www.avis.com

The code is for a group, but we were not asked to show any kind of proof that we belonged to a group. Other Dis'ers have posted similar experiences.

When you go the mousesavers site, just look for the rental car link or ground transportation. Like I said we used the GROUP CODE for Avis.

When on the avis site, there is a box on the reservation form called AWD (Avis Worldwide Discount) and we entered the code in this box. We paid about $57.00 for the day for the minivan. Far cheaper than any other mode of transportation. We dropped off the van at the Radisson/Avis location which is about 2 miles from the ship and took their courtesy van to the port. Very easy.

The location code for picking up at orlando airport is MCO. The location code for dropping off at the Radisson/Avis in Cape Canaveral is P3F.

For an example of pricing.....I just checked a reservation for August 3, 2002 (we are sailing on Western Itinerary). Without the code the rate was $87.55. With the code is was only $61.95 (including all taxes). Quite a difference. That was for a minivan. The prices will be lower if you just need a regular type car.

Hope this helps.

According to the Orlando airport web site, a taxi would probably cost $87.

Or you could take the Disney bus. I believe the cost is $24/pp each way or $40/pp RT.

A towncar service... perhaps a bit pricier, perhaps a bit less expensive than Disney transfers depending on the number of people in your party. Convenient and comfortable. Most drivers will allow you to stop to pick up snacks/beverages on your way to the port at no extra charge.

The favorite towncar companies on this board are Tiffany Towncars (www.tiffanytowncar.com) and Happy Limo (www.happylimo.com). You can get a discount coupon for Happy at Barb's site (www.castawayclub.com).

The other option is to rent a car. If you want to rent a car and park it at the port ($8/day), you have a multitude of options:

www.orlandoairports.net/goaa/ops/rac.htm

But there are four companies that allow you to rent a car in Orlando and drop it off near the port before your cruise. Then you can pick up another car from the same company after your cruise and return it at the airport. This is the most cost-effective option. Here is a summary of the possibilities:
