When we traveled in January 2002 for a 7 day, we took the Disney transfer at $46/pp. For our 3 day cruise, however, dh wants to look into driving from orlando airport to port canaveral. Anyone know how much the Disney transfer is for the 3 day cruise? Also, how much is parking if we rent a car and park it there for the cruise?

I would assume that transfers would be the same cost -- as it is still the same distance to transfer -- no matter what the length of the cruise.

Parking at the port has recently increased to $8 per day.

You could also check in to renting from Avis for the ONE DAY -- returning the car near the port -- and taking the Avis free shuttle to the port. Then renting it again for ONE DAY for the return to the airport trip. This way, you would not have to pay to park the rental car -- or for the rental fees for the days you will be having the car parked.
:)

I agree with Wovenwonder. After researching all the options like DCL transfers, cab, limo service, rental car, etc. The one-day rental car option is far the cheapest and most efficient, especially if you have more than 2 people in your party.

We booked Avis on line and I used a "group" code that I found on mousesavers.com. It brought the price of a one-day rental for a van down to $56.25. After we disembark we will take shuttle over to Avis then spend the day at Downtown Disney and fly home that night from MCO.

Your options, other than the standard Disney transit are...

A towncar service... perhaps a bit pricier, perhaps a bit less expensive than Disney transfers depending on the number of people in your party. Convenient and comfortable. Most drivers will allow you to stop to pick up snacks/beverages on your way to the port at no extra charge.

The favorite towncar companies on this board are Tiffany Towncars (www.tiffanytowncar.com) and Happy Limo (www.happylimo.com). You can get a discount coupon for Happy at Barb's site (www.castawayclub.com).

The other option is to rent a car. If you want to rent a car and park it at the port ($8/day), you have a multitude of options:

But there are four companies that allow you to rent a car in Orlando and drop it off near the port before your cruise. Then you can pick up another car from the same company after your cruise and return it at the airport. This is the most cost-effective option. Here is a summary of the possibilities:

thanks so much...looks like we can rent a car(w/discounts from mousesavers.com) for 3 of us for about 1/2 of the price for the Disney transfer. You all have the best info :D
