tranfering points

So I messed up and DVC wont fix it!! I have points that I banked, then I booked a trip, tried to get them to unbank the points but they wont, (they are tuff with those rules!!), I can't go next year because we have no points left because I forgot I wait listed for a 2 bedroom!! Long story short, I need to get it together, and figure out how to tranfer points?

Once I post my add, and get someone that wants the points, do I just call Member Services and say transfer XYZ points to ABC account?? Is it that easy, and then handle the money through paypal or something??

I don't think you can transfer banked points. If you don't want to lose them, you may need to borrow more points to use them or transfer points TO your account from someone else.

Let's say they were not banked. Can someone answer this. I too am curious to how this works and what they pitfalls may be

I think you are correct. I transferred points last year to a friend. I believe the rule is:

You cannot transfer banked points, but

you can bank transferred points.

We were able to do both in one conference call. I transferred the points to him and he banked them immediately.

Were your points booked into your current use year, or into your next use year? What month is your use year?

Interesting...I called MS 5 days ago (Sat, 12/23) and asked if I could bank points transferred to me...they said no, you cannot bank transferred points.

Argh!!!

I banked my March 2006 points into my March 2007 use year. Then we decided to make a trip for February 2007, which would be using my March 2006 points and borrowing my March 2007 points, thats where I messed up, the banked points can't be used, and I had to borrow almost all my points for the trip. So basically I am SOL, unless I can sneak away for a long weekend, with the banked points, I only have 59 left in the March 2007 use year!

You could always borrow from the 2008 use year to round out a trip, get some nights on cash (? member discount), take the opportunity to try non DVC resorts, have points transferred in to use, or even do a non DVC trip. But what ever you do, don't lose the 59 points, it's against my religion.

You were told wrong but it is a rule that has not always been in place. I think it changed in 1999 though.
