What is your Train to Train plan?

I won't be starting official Goofy Training until late August and have about 40 pds to lose before then...or at least as much of that as possible.

Can someone suggest a training plan for me?

Thank you

Kim

Hey Kim!

I'm doing this one right now:

Higdon Novice Spring Training Plan

It's designed to be used before starting marathon training so may be helpful for you. I'm enjoying the low mileage during the week when it's so gross and humid outside right now.

Hey Kim!

I am using the MfM half marathon training program , but doing back-to-back walks to be ready for them. I figure it will be safe and easy and a good base for the Goofy. Margie is doing that too.

Just be sure and get in the cross training and do some weights and you shouldn't have any trouble with the weight... At least that's what I KEEP hoping for! :rotfl:

Hey Connie I didn't realize you where doing Goofy also!!!!! Waahhooooo

Thanks for the info!!!!

Kim, I have at least 30 pounds I am trying to lose and maybe even 40! I am glad you are going Goofy with us! Are you training alone, too?

Ok, lets make a pact to get rid of this before Goofy!!!!!

Nope Mike is doing the Goofy as well. I just feel I need to get alot of the weight off before I start serious training.

Hey, Kim, I'm so glad you started this thread. I've been looking around for a "getting back into it" plan as well. I am actually registered for the RnR Half in VA Beach over Labor Day weekend (Sept 6th?), though with the horrific prices of the hotel rooms, I'm not sure if I'll actually make it to the race.

Anyway, because I'm recovering from injury, I'm being really cautious. These plans look great for gearing up. Like you and Connie, I'm also planning (I wanted to say "hoping" - but that's not decisive enough!) to shed some serious pounds. Actually, I need to lose MORE than 40, but I know from experience that every pound I lose makes training easier and my times faster. (Not to mention the whole health consideration, which is what got me walking in the first place.)

Go us!

Hey Wendy, glad to hear from ya!!!!!

Good luck with your shedding as well!!!!!

That is one of the goals for me on loseing weight is being easier to haul my b*** around the course.

Hi Wendy!

I Beeee-lieve that if you weigh less for a race you are never as sore afterwards! :rotfl:

I beeeee-lieve that doing the Goofy has to be easier than doing the first few days on a wagon train! :snooty:

I beeeeeeee-lieve that you and me and Kimmy and Margie can all do this! :cloud9:

I beeee-lieve that even if none of us reach our scale goal....we will still be the most Mah-velous peoples!

I'm trying to lose some weight (or inches as my PT says) before my next half in September. I like the plans above because I want to go lighter on my running for the next month but didn't want to give it up completely.
