I've just been looking at cheap ways to do a hol to DLP later on next year as DP told me last night that we can't afford another one :sad1:

Anyway, I found that you can book an apartment at Val D'Europe through French Life with Tesco clubcard vouchers, but was wondering about the train journey.

For anyone that's done it before, I have a few questions

Is it a long journey? I know it's only one stop, but how long is it?

Is it underground?

How much does it cost each way?

Is it easy to manage with children? We will have three (7, 5 and 1 in a buggy)

You can buy a carnet of tickets for the journey between Val d'Europe and DLRP - its around 16 euros for a carnet of 10 tickets.

I haven't done it yet, but we are probably going to stay in Val d'Europe next April - as I understand, the train journey takes around 5 minutes only, and there are trains every 15 minutes or so all through the day and well into late evening.

Well the train is about a 3-5 min journey and it is £1.50 return. To be honest though, I drive so I cannot comment on taking kids. But there are also buses that go from the Bus station and the Adagio Appartments.

Which appartments will french life be using, they may have a shuttle. to be honest, the Val de Europe hotels are not much further than the Kyriad and Holiday Inn if using the train.

It is the Adagio apartments that french life have on their website, so that's perfect, although I would imagine it might be easier to take the train rather than the shuttle bus with the scrums I've heard about :rotfl:

Is there a charge for the shuttle bus if you don't book it through Disney themselves?

It may turn out that we will end up driving anyway as I'll have to look into cheap travelling, but I can't imagine driving will be any cheaper than flying from Scotland haha.

Hopefully Rachel will check in as she recently stayed at the Adagio apartments.

I've used the train its much easier than the shuttle bus - much faster and more efficient.

You will be fine on the train with the kids, the trains are HUGE and oftern double decker trains - exciting for kids (...and well I found them exciting too!) and its only 1 stop away.

If your planning on a couple of meals out there are some nice restaurants in ValD'Europe and they are much cheaper than Disney too.

Thank you! I'm not keen on staying off site to be honest, but if it's a choice of not going or staying off site, I'll happily make the sacrifice ;)

Will the trains be easy enough with a buggy? I'm sure the older 2 will be very amazed at the site of a double decker train. We went on a bog standard train to Edinburgh the other week and have never shut up about it since :rotfl:

funny, once you stay off site, you may never see the value of on site again (as long as you have Dream Passes).

The chinese, Italian, Indian, Middle eastern, Japanese, and Hippo steak house at La Terrasse in VDE are excellent choices and amazingly cheaper than DLP prices.

We like to mix our trips up, and dine a little on and off site.

Hi
we did indeed stay @ the adagio in aug

with tesco deals :)

we didn't use the shuttle as we had a car,so cannot comment on that ( we had AP's so went to EMH and the shuttle doesnt start that early) but no,you dont pay extra for the shuttle

but we did get the train from DLRP back to val d'europe one day (our friends had the car)

soon as you get on its time to get off again ! lol
easy journey and cost 4euros ish for 2 ad 2 ch

we liked the location of the adagio (esp as we werent paying for it lol)

close enough to all the shops / restaurants and just a few mins from disney :thumbsup2

i have done a review with pics http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1110226

Yup you should be fine, we never found the trains too busy - you didnt need to stand or anything, and as its one stop you could just stand by the doors!!

I think you will have to be more careful that your kids don't run off to get on the top deck of the train like I did and I'm 25!:)

Hi as others have said, getting the train is easy and very quick, with regular trains. It really takes less than 2 minutes. The Adagio apartments are quite a walk from the train station, about 10 - 15 minutes, which is fine in the morning, but at the end of a long Disney day we found it quite a long stretch. The bus does depart at serveral times during the day. We caught it once, prefering the convienence of the train. As a better location recomendation i would always choose the Residhome Prestige Val D'europe apartments as they are right next to one of the entries to to the station, only a 30 second walk. But if you are getting the apartment with vouchers, then hey go for it.:cool1:

yeah it is a 10 min walk from the station, but we didnt mind

it was warm and dry and quite welcomed the chance to try and power walk off the big disney meals, we had eaten that day ! :rotfl:
