Hello:

Is it possible to take a train to wdw (orlando area) from either niagara falls ontario area or just over the border from the niagara falls new york area? Has anybody done this, if so how long did it take?

Thanks,

Deb.

Hi Deb,
Looking on Amtracks web site it looks like you can leave via Amtrack out of Buffalo NY about 6:40 a.m and arrive in Orlando the next day at 4:03 pm
You would have to take the train from Buffalo to NY City then you would go straight to Orlando with no layovers. I have taken the train that leaves from NY but I pick it up in Philadelphia and it is a very enjoyable trip to WDW. I would suggest you get a sleeper if you are doing this so that your meals would be included and you would arrive rested.

You can catch the train in Niagara Falls, New York to Penn Station in New York City, where you change trains to either the Silver Star or Silver Meteor to Disney. There are six trains a day along this route (the Empire Corridor); the easiest connection would be off train 286, leaving Niagara Falls at 9:20 a.m. You would arrive in Orlando the next day at 3:53 p.m., or Kissimmee 30 minutes later at 4:23.

There is one train a day, the Maple Leaf, which operates through to Toronto and therefore also serves Niagara Falls, Ontario. Problem is, this trains schedule gets to NY late enough that there is no connecting train to Florida until the next morning. If you can board in NY state (Niagara Falls or Buffalo, whichever is better for you) it will be much more convenient.

Hey Deb, You are not alone:earsgirl: That is why we are once again taking Amtrack to WDW in 12 days:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Is it better to get off in Kissimmee rather than Orlando if you are going to wdw. Also do you rent a car at this point or take a cab to wdw. Thanks

Deb.

Hi Deb,
Actually we have gotton off at both and I perfer getting off at Orlando only because the time it takes the train to get to Kissimmee is time that we are that much closer to the AKL. It takes approxametly another half hour to get to Kissimmee depending on how many passengers get off at Orlando by the time they unload the luggage.
We used Tiffany Town Car last year from the train station to AKL and we are doing the same this year. The cost with my discount from Passporter is going to be $78 round trip and we found it worth every penny. The train was late getting in by about a half hour and we were concerned that our ride would be gone but they were there with their wonderful welcoming sign. The driver told me they all have radios and actually are conected to Amtracks time schedule so they plan accordingly as long as you provide them with your train number as they ask.
Also, at Orlando they have numrous taxis waiting and Mears does pick up there as well as Kissimmee. The only trouble with Mears is that they do the airport first and people have told me they have waited a long time up to an hour in some cases for rides to the resorts from the train station. I know that we got off in Kissimmee with reservations for Mears and ended up using a taxi since when I called them they told me it would be 2 hours before a pick up would take place and no way was I waiting that long when I could be at the resort.
Sorry about being so windy :hyper: If you have any more questions about the train ask away.
