What is better at Trails End? Breakfast or Dinner? Also, about how long does it take to get there? We are staying at VWL. Thanks!

NOTE1: Above include breakfast-dinner (we don't like the lunch), it has tasty comfort
food. We like the buffets as dining alternatives, as they are reasonably priced for Disney
meals. Lunch is far behind in quality and value. In Spring-2011, they changed lunch menus
to ala carte and we recommend it only for a light midday meal. We think the lunch food
is a little overpriced and only average in food quality. For dinner, order the yummy fried
chicken and "make-your-own-potato" bar. For breakfast, you REALLY, REALLY, NEED the
sticky buns. The nice thing about breakfast, might be the low crowds, as many campers
prepare breakfast at the campsite. Trail's End Breakfast Buffet is the second best buffet,
behind The Wave breakfast buffet at Contemporary for quality, and the best in price value.

NOTE2: Trails End is out-of-the-way for most WDW guests. I takes about 20-minutes for
the boat from MK-to-FW, about 10-minutes for the boat from WL-to-FW, about 15-minutes
for the boat from CR-to-FW (excluding the waiting times for the next boat).

Getting there from VWL, you can take the bus, the boat or walk. Depending on time of day and route, it will likely take 10-30 minutes, but wait times could push it a bit higher if you just missed a boat or bus.

Bus: Picks up where the other buses at WL do and goes straight to drop off at FW Settlement, near TE. The ride is short, but I do not know the wait time average. The time I did this, I only waited about 5 minutes for the bus.

Boat: Service WL, FW, CR. I have read that there are two routes that go opposite directions. I have also read that in the mornings the route is one way and in the evening the other. I never really paid attention to be able to tell you the correct answer on this. If the route is WL-CR-FW, then it will be be a bit longer than if it is WL-FW-CR.

Walk: There are two paths between the resorts. One goes along the road and the other goes along Bay Lake. I did the route along the lake early one morning. It was a shaded, dirt path. It took me about 20 minutes, but only because I stopped to take pictures and talk to a runner. The dirt path is about .75 - 1 mile long.

This picture has a map and of the 2 resorts from "runningatdisney". If you look, you can see the two paths between the resorts: http://runningatdisney.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/fort-wilderness-recreation-map.jpg.

I tried the breakfast buffet there recently, and it was delicious. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. I have a bunch of pictures that I've been meaning to upload, so I'll do that when I get home tonight and post 'em here. :thumbsup2

Great, thanks for all the great info! I would love to see all your pics Savikins! Thanks so much!:)

This is one of our favorite places to eat breakfast. We finally tried the dinner there and we are going back in a few short weeks to eat dinner there again. We enjoy both buffets.

We have eaten at Trails End for breakfast since they opened - has always been delicious - lunch, no - the dinner buffet is very good - love them smoked ribs and brisket!

We are doing both. :goodvibes I had seen pictures and wanted to try breakfast. It looks really really good. Especially the pulled pork eggs benedict. And then, my daughter, found out that they have fried chicken for dinner. So we are going for dinner, also. It helps that we are staying in the cabins, but I think we would have made the trip over there anyway. We are paying OOP for the breakfast. It is really reasonable.
