I thought I knew what I was planning for, but now I'm confused. Is it Trail's End or Whispering Canyon that has a breakfast buffet in the $8 -$9 range, of maybe both? Any info on either of these would be appreciated.

Bill, I believe you are thinking of the Trail's End Buffeteria at FW. Whispering Canyon Cafe does not offer a buffet; they are table service. However, they do have a nice all-you-care-to-eat breakfast skillet that they keep filled. I can't remember the exact price, but I think it's under $12/person.

Here are the offerings at each location:
Fort Wilderness

BREAKFAST
7:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
All-You-Can-Eat Buffet includes:
coffee and hot tea

Scrambled eggs
sausage
bacon
hash browns
sausage gravy with biscuits
French toast
fresh fruit
donuts
Price: $8.50 Adult; $5.50 Child (3 - 11)

Continental Breakfast also available: $5.50

We've been to Trail's End Buffet breakfast many times. It is very good & I think the most reasonably priced meal in all of WDW. I think you would enjoy it.

We ate at the Trails End on our last trip. The food was good - BUT - it took way to long to stand in the line to get to the food. Only one line - on one side of the buffet. We were there around 10:00 on a Sunday - had to wait for a table (for 2) for about 15 minutes.

Since we have 2 young DSs it is easier for us at Whispering Canyon than trying to do a buffet with young kids. Both have good food.

Keep in mind that Whispering canyon is "participatory" dining. Be prepared for the stick horsey races, and the whooping and yelling of the wait staff. If you want to eat quietly and in peace, it's NOT the place to go.

Thanks for all the input. For a variety of reasons we'd prefer Trails End, and when I told my wife what was on the menu and the cost she decided that we'd probably start most days off there. Sounds like we could make it to a late lunch at Epcot on that fare.
