Which is better, to eat the lunch or dinner buffet? Is there a big difference in the variaty of food offered? does the lunch buffet offer baraque spare ribs?

We ate there once and found it to be a good value but not very tasty. But the food was OK. Worth the price but nothing special. FW is loads of fun though.

I can't answer your lunch questions, but we were there for dinner last Sat. night. It was a very nice meal. Ribs and fried chicken were very good. There was also beef brisket and salmon. All the main entrees were very hot and fresh. I usually avoid fish at a buffet but this was excellent. There was chili and chicken noodle soup (my youngest DS thought the soup was great.) The number of available hot and cold side dishes was limited, but everything was constantly being turned over. The desert selections were not to my liking, (bread pudding, apple pie, and cinnimon crisps), but I was pretty full anyway. This was the first time we had ventured over to FW and thouroghly enjoyed our evening. With our 20% DDE card it made this meal a bargain, something that is very hard to find in WDW. LOL!!

First of all, let me say Trails' End is my favorite restaurant on WDW. That being said, I will continue to try to answer your questions.

Lunch is generally lighter fare (and price) than dinner. Consists of sandwiches and wraps, fried chicken, soup, chili, deserts, fruit, salad. Ribs are only available at dinner time. You used to have to ask for them and they would bring you out a bucket. Last November when we were there they were part of the buffet. If you like the food at HDD, then you will like the food at Trail's End since it comes from the same kitchen. Dinner also usually includes a carved meat. Chili is FANTASTIC.

Breakfast is a really hot deal. Excellent food and I think the cheapest price for a breakfast buffet on property.

My order of preference for meals at TE - breakfast, dinner, lunch from favorite to least favorite. But I have yet to have a bad meal there. Ask for Ken - a most excellent waiter.

:bounce:

Although you didn't ask about Breakfast, I think breakfast at Trails end is great.

We were at Trail's End for Mother's Day and found it to be great. Prime Rib, Ham, Salmon, Shrimp cocktail, Roasted or grilled veges, pizza, all made it to our plates. The food was hot, and my daughters loved the huge choc. cake that was out with the desserts. Great value too. Have a fun time!

We tried breakfast here 2-3 years ago, it's now one of our favorite breakfasts on property. Makes for a nice and relaxing start to a day.

We had Ken as our waiter on our first trip, haven't seen him the last 2 trips. You're right, he was excellent.

We love it, and even though we bring our motorhome, eat at TE more then we should! What I like about it is the soups and cornbread (yuuuummmm) and the fact that you don't feel "rushed" like some of the other buffets we won't mention by name. The selection is not huge, but it is always mega fresh, and the service is outstanding.

I really want to try this place because it sounds like a pretty good value compared to other WDW restaurants. But, when should I go. Is Dinner or Breakfast better? My family usually likes to have a nice breakfast to start off the day, then a snack in the middle of the day, then a "big" dinner.

Why not both?

When we're at FW, we eat a couple of breakfasts there, and usually one dinner. I am a breakfast guy, though. I really think you will find it hard to beat the breakfast buffet on WDW. OK, there aren't any characters, but the food is excellent and the price is fantastic. If I HAD to choose only one meal to eat at Trail's End, I guess I would choose breakfast.

Just noticed, Mike, that you are from Buffalo! I am a displaced Buffalo boy (actually from the southtowns, but went to school at UB). Now, they don't have beef on weck at Trail's End, but tell me, would a Buffalo Boy steer you wrong on a great place to eat?

Well, I don't think I've ever met a person that was from Buffalo that would lie to me about food. Us Buffalonian's now our stuff about food. So I will definitely take your advice. That does'nt sound to bad, breakfast and dinner. Not to make you to jealous down there in PA but I'm going to get some chicken wings from the Anchor Bar or a Roast Beef Sandwich from Charlie the Butcher. You don't know what your missing about here.

Does anyone know the hours of the different meals?? We have planned at least one dinner here(early if possible)and I think we might add a breakfast there for our late start morning. Thanks for the help.

We would like to go there one night for dinner. What is the easiest way to get there from the MK or from BCV. We will have a car if that makes it faster. Thanks

What is DDE card? Sounds like a good thing to have!

A car would not make it faster. You would have to park in the lot and take one of the internal buses to the other end of the campground to the settlement area. If you are coming from MK, take the resort launch directly to FW. The marina is right next to Trail's End.

:D

Hey Mike, box me up some of those Anchor Bar wings - and don't forget the Blue Cheese!

If I remember right, breakfast starts around 7:30, lunch is lunch time, and dinner starts about 4:30.
