I think this is the name of the buffet at the campgrounds. Who has been there and do you have pics to share? I was thinking of adding this to our ADR's for our May/June trip. We haven't been over to the campgrounds at all and I would love to see it. If the food is good then that would give me a reason to get the family over there. ;)

I don't have any pictures but we have eaten there- it is fried chicken and ribs if I remember correctly at the main meats at dinner- It is one of my DH's favorite places to eat (even though we have only been there once). I would say the food is similar to a Southern Food Buffet- I believe the chicken and ribs are the same ones served at Hoop Dee Doo- they have the corn on the cob as well.

We ate there last week. I will have to give my honest opinion that I did not think it was worth the trouble to get to the resort. It is a long haul to Ft. Wilderness depending on where you are staying and then you have to get to the Pioneer Hall to get to the food (if you are taking the boat it wouldn't be bad, but if you take a bus to FW then you have to take the internal shuttle.)

In full disclosure, I don't like camping, so the campgrounds looked simply like a bunch of different campers in the middle of the florida trees (which aren't lush like say the carolinas or the virginias). It was not a "sight to see".

The food was not a very large offering. Fried Chicken, ribs (these were tasty) and carved beef. Mashed potatoes, macaroni cheese, carrotts and green beans and salad. Only bread offered was cornbread (sweet). The restaurant was very rustic and themed outdoorsy.

We won't be back, if we do go back it will be to see the Hoop Dee Doo. Same food with entertainment. My opinion would be to only fit this in if you have lots of left over time.

OH the boat ride to the Contp was lovely in the evening. The moon was gorgeous!!

We tried this for the first time last summer and enjoyed it so much we made a point to return on a short trip in December. We have also booked it again for July.

Along with chicken and ribs there were a couple differnet potatoes, carved beef, a fish dish, rice, chili, a large salad bar, pizza, a pasta dish, icecream and toppings for dessert, and cookies, brownies, etc... There was a great variety. My very picky son found about 5 things he would eat there, so that was huge for us.

what was the cost per person? I looked on the disney site and they had it priced at up to $100 a person. I keep thinking that has to be wrong :goodvibes

:lmao: I'm not sure of the price, but I'm guessing if it were $100.00 per person I would have remembered...and we woudnt be going back. ;)

Hahaha. Lunch is around $15 & dinner is about $20. We really enjoyed our lunch there in December. The fried chicken was great & they had an awesome salad bar. They also had bbq pulled pork, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, pizza, veggies, chili, & more. Plus, an ice cream sundae bar w/ brownies & rice crispy treats. After our meal, we took the boat back to Magic Kingdom.

We went in Jan and my guys loved it. Really loved it.
I can't remember price, but around $15-20 per person and includes soda, tea, coffee.
It isn't the easist place to get to, but worth it and you can watch MK fireworks from the beach (just a short walk, about a block form the restaurant) with piped in music. Just plan ahead on how to get there...my bad as I didn't explore that and we arrived a minute or two late for our ADR.

;) Ha Ha.....yep I knew it wouldn't be $100 per person but not sure of the price. Sometimes the cost of some meals at WDW can be a surprise when you don't plan. Last trip we went to Boma...DH was so looking forward to it (now I had told him that it was around $25 a person when I made the plans..."great"..."sounds good" he said) Well we all loved it and DH went on and on about how good it was...we must put this on our list for the next trip...the bill comes and DH words were.."We paid $19 for ***(DS 6) to eat mac-n-cheese and chicken strips!!" ;) Well we always do when we are at WDW right??? What's new?? And this is the first time he's said a word about the price of meals! I thought the price was great and would go back in a heart beat.
Now this is also the same man who got DD (5 at the time) the giant stuffed Minnie...almost as big as she was...for about $75 one night as we were leaving MK because she "looked like she really wanted it" Minnie sat buckled in next to DD all the way home from the trip and she still sits proudly on DD's bed...and DD will be 14 in 3 weeks.

For the increase in price, it is just OK. There is not alot to choose from. The chicken was good. This was our first time eating there and have heard for the $$, this is a good choice for a buffet considering the others that Disney has for their $$. We were at the park so no issue using the bus to get there, just leaving we wanted to go to Disney downtown and you have to catch two different stops to do so. For the $$ and lack of choices, we will eat somewhere else next time. Now Boma is GREAT. They to have increased $$ to justify the increase in DDP $$. Disney has made it as they increase the DDP $$, they are raising the food $$ making it more $$$ for someone paying out of pocket just to eat.

Here's a couple from December 2009. We really liked eating here. It's now a must do for us! The chicken is YUMMY!

Our family loved it!! Nothing fancy, but plenty of good choices and delicious! We loved the boat ride over and planned ahead to make a night of it...afterward we headed over to the outdoor movie and campfire they have there complete with marshmallow roasting and Chip and Dale! It ended up being one of our most enjoyable evenings! Our kids loved it!

Thanks to all:thumbsup2, I just made Breakfast ADR's for are up comeing trip In July, just on seening and reading the post here.I woould of did It for Dinnier but we already have ADR at Hoop de doo and from reading the food It seem similar. Similar

Well now I'm confused :) In the links provided above, one was a blog from AllEars talking about lunch offerings having been changed recently to a "cold menu" buffet (soups, salads, sandwiches, etc), but that was from 2008. But the 2009 menu link provided form AllEars shows the buffet as having the warm items: chicken, pork, etc. Was the cold menu an experiment that they ended (going back to the original), or is it still the sandwich/soup/salad style buffet?

I too think this is a place we'd like to try, but we probably won't make the trip for a "cold" lunch.

This was an ok buffet. It's not anything special but the food is quite nice. I would go back if there wasn't anything else available.

When our server gave us our check at the end of the meal, she had actually CIRCLED the suggested tip. Little did she know that my DBF and I were both cast members and servers at another WDW restaurant and so we knew that this was not allowed at all.
So it really really put us off :sad1:
