We intend to go to the trails end buffet on our next visit, one of our party has mobility issues. How close can we get to the buffet by parking or other means so that that person does not have to walk. Or is it better to use a wheelchair or ecv thanks for your help

Even if you're staying at Fort Wilderness, there is no close vehicle access. Your best bet is taking a launch from MK, or the Wilderness Lodge. There are buses that travel through Ft. Wilderness from the front parking area-IIRC, Crockett and Boone take you to Frontier Hall and Trail's End.

ITA agree Poohnatic::yes::

We parked at the parking area, walked a distance to get to the bus stop by the kennels, waited for a bus...got on a bus, for a 10minute trip through FW (while lovely, just long when you're hungry! LOL) and then walked again to get to the Buffeteria.

So...
A) Allow lots of time to get there;)
B) use the wheelchair/ecv - though don't plan on being able to push a wheelchair through the little petting zoo area, it's just too sandy:)

HTH!

You are going to be closer to Trails End if you take the water launch from MK or the Wilderness Lodge, but still there are issues with the sand. My mother and I took the boat launch and didn't have much trouble navigating it with the ECV's, and you can plug it in at the golf cart lot in front of the restaurant, so it can charge while you eat. I found that the buses were more trouble than they are worth, especially with an ECV or wheelchair.

The petting zoo is no longer there, and we had no trouble navigating through the area with the ECV.
