And the top Campground/RV Resort is ........(drum roll please)

(oh the anticipation)

... not the Fort. It came in second place.

Here's the clicky for you DIS'ers. WDW management goobs are also welcome to read it.

The goobs justify their very high rates due to being the top destination campground and RV resort. Seems like we're all due a refund. :surfweb:

Has anyone ever stayed at the top spot? It's all the way out in California. What is so great about it I wonder?

Hey Ed, interesting read.

Never been to #1 camping spot but have been to #2:rotfl: a lot. The other categories were interesting reads also. Thanks!!!

Thanks bigblock. :thumbsup2

I remember how you helped me out a long time ago on my March 2012 trip report. You pointed out some "bugs" in it that had to get "poofed" by an exterminator (if you recall).

In that Trailer Life article I noticed that Jayco got the top rating for the popup/folding trailer category. I own a Jayco so that was nice to hear.

Thanks and Merry Christmas! :santa:

Haven't been on for a while so I just saw your post, Ed. Glad you're not still in a deep depression :-(. I have been to the Pechanga resort - very nice and very expensive. Not sure why it would rank so highly; the only "entertainment" is the adjacent casino but by the time you pay for the campground and the VERY expensive diesel fuel there isn't much left to donate to the one armed bandits! For my money there really isn't a comparison; the Fort is far and away the better of the two and the best of the three choices.

RVMH,

So there's a casino there huh? Then it's not worth a visit at all IMO. I don't have enough money to lose on $2 lottery tickets much less slots and blackjack tables. :confused3

I say quite a few of those awards are off. :confused3

Interesting list. As for the campgrounds, I've been to 2 of the 3. Have not been to the #1 in CA, but Ocean Lakes for #3? Really? Maybe just because of it's size. More people have stayed there=more votes.

It isn't a terrible place, but I wouldn't put it in the top 3 of the places I've stayed, much less top 3 of every place in the country.

Agree - Maybe these places have many short term transients. hese campgrounds in Myrtle Beach are huge but just not in the same category with the Fort.

In 42 years of camping we have experienced few campgrounds with activities to even come close to the Fort. Some are great because of location or just the scenery. But none compare to the Fort for entertainment for the family.

Has anyone looked at that place in Google Earth? They have got to be kidding. Trailer Life is a joke!

Like someone would have the guts to not award a casino-connected resort? Uncle Luigi would have their knee caps and they would end up wearing cement overshoes, doncha know.

And they'd end up swimming with the fishes next to Jimmy Hoffa. :rotfl2:

You're funny Jan! :thumbsup2
