I need to know how bad traffic is on the 5 on Monday mornings like around 7-8am..

I'm trying to figure out what time I need to be leaving my hometown (45 minutes south of Fresno) in order to get there by nine-ish...

I was thinking about 5am which gives me, hopefully, ample time to get there..

It can't be as bad as the 405 that time of morning right?

:scared1: I-5 is horrid anytime of day we've found!!! We came into town in early March on a Saturday around 5pm & it took over 2 hours to get thru LA. The best time we've found was weekdays around 10:30-11am....we flowed thru pretty easily. I would not want to hit LA traffic during the times you're looking at....scary at best!!!
Good luck & safe driving!!!!!

The 5 freeway is one of the major freeways traveled by commuters every morning and evening. 7am - 9am and 4:30pm - 6:30pm are the peak times and are much worse than other times of day. I can get to Disneyland on the 5 in 20 minutes. At 8am it will take me close to an hour. Coming southbound, the patch that will kill you is going through Downtown LA. It literally slows to about 5 miles an hour if you hit it at the wrong time in the morning.

I would suggest you check out abc7.com's real time traffic map on a weekday at about the time you think you will be coming through there. YOu can see for yourself the speed traffic is moving (or not...).

I'm almost wondering if I should take the route that I used to take..
-405-605-91-5??

I'm wondering if it would be worse doing that???

I was hoping to hit la by 7am if we left at 5am...that would hopefully get me two hours to get through that traffic wouldn't you think?

If you hit LA by 7am you might be able to beat the morning traffic. The 91 is generally referred to as a parking lot once traffic starts to build. I have not driven that route at the hour in many years. I would check abc7's live traffic map on a weekday and see what it shows. It is very accurate.

yes you are correct about the 91! I'll check out that live traffic map that you said. Thanks a lot! :)

i'd definitely check out the traffic map, the 91 is the worst here in OC. i'd try to avoid it, i took the 91 a month ago and ii was on it for like over an hour just going from Buena Park to the 55.
