WE will be flying into MCO at 4:30pm on a Thursday. What is traffic like from MCO to WDW at 5:00pm on a weeknight? Is it total gridlock or smooth sailing?

Thanks for any info on the subject.

Stick with the 417 via the south exit from MCO and you shouldn't have any problems. In general the main traffic problems in the Orlando area will be in the downtown area between John Young Parkway and Parr Avenue. Down in the airport and WDW areas, traffic doesn't normally get too crowded unless there is a crash.

If you use the 417 route as suggested already, it should only take you 25 minutes to get to WDW.:D

Last May our flight came in around 5:00pm on a Friday. No problems using 417. We have also returned to the airport around that time, no problem. I've never seen major traffic on 417, nothing like I-4.

What's traffic like on 417 from mco to AKL on a Monday around noon? And,around 8:30am on a Friday morning to mco from the Dolphin?

thanks!

417 is never backed up or crowded, so anytime 7 days a week you won't have any problem. From anywhere on WDW property it will only take you 25-30 minutes to get to the airport using 417.::yes::

I'm another big fan of 417. Just be warned that it will cost you $2.25 in tolls (two $1 tolls and an exact-change-only quarter to exit). Just follow the South Exit signs when leaving the airport.

It's $2.50 unless you are getting off at a different exit. I travel that road very often these days.

Another vote for taking SR 417 from MCO to WDW. Traffic is no problem.
To AKL from MCO on Monday just get off 417 at exit 3 and take the Oceola Parkway to AKL.

The only thing that you want to keep an eye out for when going out the South end on 417 is that they are doing a whole lot of construction at the southern end of the airport property. Lanes get very narrow very quick, so be on the lookout.

Once you get off airport property should be smooth sailing. I did a grocery run from BCV to the Albertson's around dinner time, and there was not much traffic at all.
