Traffic on I-4 North near Downtown Disney

Hi. I've traveled on and near I-4 North near Downtown Disney that past two Saturdays around lunchtime and encountered VERY heavy and bad traffic on I-4 North at that time.

I was wondering if the traffic in this area is just as bad on a weekday morning around 6:30-7AM? We were planning on using I-4 North to 528 East for our return drive to MCO from Disney around this time and I am beginning to wonder if this is a bad idea because of the traffic that I have witnessed.

Any thoughts?

You would probably be happier on 417. I chose 417 to pick up family not staying at Disney a couple of times recently this year and encountered no problems. Quick, easy trip there and back from Disney.

I also checked with some resort staff and that's what they recommended, confirming what I had decided to do. I do have a Sun Pass for the tolls so whiz through the toll booths with the little $5 stick on pass you can get at convenience stores down there.

Yes, you can use cash. There are attended lines where you can get change as well as unattended lines where a roll of quarters comes in handy.

Convenience in order: 1 Sun pass, 2 quarters, 3 paper cash

I4 runs East and West....traffic sucks either way around the area you are speaking of. 417 is the easiest way to the airport

On a weekday morning you run into a lot of people heading to work by 7am. It can get slow then also. Not always, but often. I had to do this for a week recently and found 6:45 to 7am was about the time it got heavy.

I was concerned when we stayed just outside of Downtown Disney and we wanted to be at the parks for rope drop. The first couple of days we were there were a Sat and Sun so Monday morning was a bit of a shocker for me (who remembers what day it is when on vacation ?) but it was only our road (535) that was a bit tighter. Once I got on 4 it was fine (around 8am) but we only had to go a couple of exits at most (traffic moved freely).
