We have a 9 hour drive from home to get to DL, so we decided instead of paying for one more night at the GCH, we would stay at the Morongo Casino (this also gets me a disney trip vs. vegas ;) :rotfl2: ). So, we are to arrive at the park on Thursday, October 2nd. The park opens at 10am, but we will have EE at 9am. In a perfect world I would like to get there at 8:30am. How crazy am I to want to do this in CA traffic, and what time should I leave???

Yahoo Maps is putting Morongo as 75 minutes away (going through Moreno Vally and the 91)

I actually live not too far from Casino Morongo so I know a little about the route to get to DL from that area. It takes me about an hour and 10 minutes to get over there -- without traffic. We had to go near DL one time for an appointment at 8am. We left home at 6 and got there in an hour and a half but you never know what the traffic through Corona (on the 91) is going to be like. Actually, I take that back. I do always know what the traffic through Corona will be like - it's always bad. :scared1:

Normally I take the 10W to the 215S to the 91W to the 22W to the 5N to get to DL and it works good as long as there isn't a big mess in Corona which, at the time you will be going i can pretty much guarantee it will be a mess. However, my friend who goes to DL all the time just told me his favorite route and he's smart because he avoids the 91 altogether, something i would highly recommend. Here are his directions:

Take the 10 West
From there, take the 15 South
Then, take the 60 West
The 60 will fork into the 57 South
Exit the 57 South onto Ball Road
Take Ball Road West (turn right at the light at the offramp)
After a few miles down Ball Road, turn left on South Disneyland Drive
Veer left to enter the Mickey and Friends Parking Lot

He said this is the route he's taken the last several years and he always regrets it when he takes the 91 instead. I haven't personally tried this route myself but I'm going to give it a try next time we go. I really like the idea of avoiding the 91. And when i googled the 2 routes they took about the same amount of time.

HTH :)

Wanting to be at DL by 8:30 puts in you right in the middle of the morning commute. On a Monday or Friday morning, I would maybe suggest the 91. The 91 has a toll road, but it doesn't take cash. You need a special transponder.

I agree with the pp. Follow the directions and you will also have carpool lanes most of the way. Without any major traffic problems, I would say that it should take you an hour and 45 minutes or so.

Oh yeah, and don't forget that it takes 30 minutes (at least) to get to your parking spot, walk down to the tram, make your way over to the parks, get checked by security and get into the gate. The estimated driving times i mentioned earlier were only to get you to the parking structure.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for the travel advice!!! We departed at Morongo at 6:45am, and easily coasted into the GCH by 8:15am :cool1: . We had just one minor slow down - but it was smooth sailing and excellent advice :woohoo:
