I'm trying to do a little vacation planning, now that we have a CP CM in the family! I know it's early, but planning is part of the fun! Are there any times during the fall when gate passes or hotel discounts are blacked out? It'd be just my luck to plan a trip to visit DD and NOT be able to take advantage of her discounts!

Also... is there any logic to when CPs can get discounts on the dining plan, and what is the discount?

Blackouts for the Maingate also vary by park. Magic Kingdom has the most blackout times.

Thanksgiving and most of December will be blacked out. You also will probably only get the standard 50% rooms at that time if there are any available. The dining plan for CMs will most likely not be available during that time.

The dining plan availability varies during the year. In the times I have done it my family have come in March, June and Aug. Sometimes they run specials on the HUB advertising that it is 60% off for CMs and you can add the dining plans.

We are going 12/8-12/14 down to see DD who is a CP starting in August. I am planning on having her purchase tickets as I know we can't count on her getting us in the parks. Will we be able to get her room discount? I have that week booked at CSR already and it is waiting for her to make the changes when she can. They didn't state that she couldn't get the discount.

It will depend if it is offered on the hub. She won't be making changes but will be making a totally different reservation. Also what is a available often changes so she can keep an eye for what you want.

Before New Fantasyland, MK was NOT blacked out in early December. It also was not blacked out in summer except for holiday times (fourth of july). If you are able to visit in Sept/Oct you will probably find no blackout dates *with the possibility of Labor Day w/e being blacked out* and traditionally CM can receive up to 60% off rooms with discounts avail on DP as well.
