Does anyone know if you can apply more than 1 unused ticket toward the cost of a new DVC AP? We have several unused 1 day 1 park tickets from a stay at Pop during free dining last year. We plan to get new APs with our DVC discount and were hoping to apply these tickets towards the purchase price.

2 of the tickets have MIL and FIL's names on them - will we be able to use these or not? (I am thinking probably not)

Thanks for any info!

Nope, sorry, only one ticket can be traded in or upgraded to a new ticket. It has to be a one-to-one transaction.

However, if the tickets were purchased before last year's price increase, you'll save a few dollars by using the one-day ticket first to get into the park of your choice, then upgrading that now-used ticket to the AP. You'll get the current gate value of the ticket instead of what the price was when you bought it because it's now an upgrade, not a trade-in.

Hope this helps!

Would we be able to use more than 1 of the 1 day 1 park tickets toward a multi-day ticket or is that a one to one exchange too?

I know after our Disney wedding reception we had extra tickets left over and Guest Relations let us apply multiple ones towards our APs but I guess that was just because they were bought through the wedding department - or maybe we just got lucky with a nice GR CM.

They are all 1-to-1 exchanges, so no, that won't work either.

With your wedding, you may have been able to get a "refund" on the tickets you purchased and didn't use and the CM just applied your "refund" to the cost of your APs.

Most likely. We were shocked when they did it that way but sure didn't argue!

Thanks for the info. I'm just glad we can combine the DVC discount and the 1 day 1 park ticket upgrade - that saves a good bit right there. :thumbsup2 We just have 7 APs to buy this year so every little bit helps!

A better bet would be to buy the deepest discounted ticket you can find from UCT (through the Mousesavers newsletter). Use one day and then upgrade with the DVC discount at Guest Services. You'll get the full discount from UCT AND the DVC discount. We did this a few years back and got four PAPs for the price of three. Then save your 1 days for other trips.

Good luck and have fun!

Wow, good idea. I will look into that for sure! Thanks.

I really should know the answer to this BUT:

I have 4 days left on a 10 day non-expire PH ticket...can I use that used ticket to upgrade to an AP?

For some reason that does not sound right but I thought I would ask!!

Sorry to hijack your thread OP!

You can only upgrade a ticket if it was first used less than 14 days ago - even if it's non-expiry. So, no, unless your trip was less than 2 weeks ago and you'll be back within the 14 day time frame.

OP, getting the tickets from UCT is always an option, but you have to look at whether you'll actually save money since you'd have a large cash outlay to get those UCT tickets. Run a spreadsheet with the ticket prices and the cost to upgrade each ticket and the total for your family each way.

Will do. Actually, since we are military could we upgrade our 1 day 1 parks to a multi-day ticket at SOG to save on tax then upgrade the multi-day ticket to the AP at Guest Relations using the DVC discount?

Seems like a lot of trouble but buying 7 of them it may save a good chunk of change.

By definition an upgrade is taking one ticket and adding cash (or similar) and ending up with one ticket with more entitlements. You cannot combine two tickets to get one ticket with more features.*

* The only exception to this rule is at the water parks where you can combine a one day water park ticket with a base or hopping MYW ticket and a payment to end up with a MYW ticket with the WPF&M option. Your payment will be the difference in price between the one day water park ticket and the cost of the WPF&M option plus tax on the difference.

And at SoG they have the ability to sell tickets but they do not have the ability to do upgrades. An upgrade can only be done at a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Office or a Disney Owned and Operated Resort (and the Resorts cannot do any upgrade to any sort of AP.

And an unused one day ticket, even with a name on it, is freely transferable.

You can get lots more ticket information if you follow the link in my signature.

How do you transfer the ticket? We have one day tickets from a free dining package that are on Room Key cards which we never used (We have annual passes). My neighbor is going in a few months, can I transfer the tickets into their names and then can they upgrade them to week long tickets?
Thanks

Thanks, ChesireFigment!

Since some of the 1 day tickets have other names on them can we have them reissued without the names at a ticket counter?
