From seeing her behaviour, I'd suspect that the "psycho" mother is suffering from some form of mental illness; she has obvious control issues, which at home she uses the older daughter to enforce upon the younger daughter, who is obviously not happy with the situation.

She also uses her very deep seated beliefs as both a crutch and a weapon; anything that makes her uncomfortable she can dismiss as "evil" and "dark" because God told her so. She then can retreat into her own world, where she can feel both superior and safe, while praying for the souls of others.

FYI-I am not bashing anyone with deep religious beliefs. Do not take this as anything more than it is, it is not a blanket statement equating religion, however fervent, with mental illness. In this woman's case, it just seems to manifest itself that way, while some people turn to drugs, alcohol, food or sex.

I agree. And her obesity is probably also related to her mental illness, at least to a degree. I hope that the doctors performing her GB realize what a nutcase she is, because she really needs a referral to a therapist.

I have friends who are very religious, but they would never carry on like she did. Wow.

My DH thinks, and I think I would agree, that psycho lady completely melted down. It didn't seem like this was normal for her, going by the reaction of her family. They seemed confused when she started raving.

I also thought it was weird that it didn't seem that her family was as *devout* as she was. It seemed like these feelings had been creeping up on her, and the show just blew them out of her.

She needs some proffesional help for sure.

I don't know, her husband's reacton, IMO, was more like "Oh no, not again." Her older daughter was "Mom, calm down." Sort of like she may have gone off when she found her elder duaghter pregnant at 16, or other times when she had trouble coping with reality. The younger daughter may not remember it, she would have been very young, and the grand daughter may never have experienced one of Granny's meltdowns.

Why on earth would anyone sign up for one of these shows?

They obviously go for the shock value only. Admittedly Ive only watched it twice, but from what I gather from others here who watch it fits the pattern.

If you want to mess with your own life, fine, but what about the damage to your kids in a case like this? They have to be left wondering what kind of psycho was let into their home. There could be all kinds of things that went wrong and obviously they dont screen very well.

I agree. I was confused why this women even went on this show if she had such strong beliefs.

It made me mad that she was not letting the other family even say the word Astrology, but she was allowed to share God with them. I think the family was nothing but hospitable to her. They even went to church without complaint. And when she got home, she acted as though she had just arrived from hell. Her line "I planted the seed, and I will be there to see the harvest." scared me, and I was scared for her poor family with all her wild ranting and screaming. I do hope she seeks some counseling and finds some peace.

My husband made a good example of to see things from her point of view. Her way of thinking was so different that she couldn't comprehend the other families way of life. To compare it would be like us staying with a family of murders. You would go crazy too if they asked you to try it out. You just couldn't comprehend why it would be ok. You wouldn’t want to see it, or be around it. I think that is how this woman felt.

This is exactly how my husbands Stepmother is.
I didn't watch the show, but DBIL called to tell me that the woman on the show was just like their stepmom, who was never anything like a mother to them.
DH and DBIL thankfully only lived with them for a few short years.
Her own children are very screwed up, with two sons in prison--both for violent crimes, and her daughter is married, still lives with them and is exactly like her mom.
They are very toxic people and never accept the responsibility for what they do-----it is always "demons" or the bad will of others.
Her sons are innocent----it was demons who made them do what they did or simply very good liars (the victims) who were able to sway a faulty judicial system. Creepy and bizarre. Her version of events varies according to mood...
They are so toxic we no longer have contact with them, including DH's father, who has always quietly gone along with whatever she says. He has never stood up to her.

I am hoping they repeat the show so I can see it for myself.

I can give you 50,000 reasons. For that amount I'd put up with just about anything for a week...

I feel awful for that woman's children and grandchild.......... I was wondering:since she used $20,000 of the 50 grand for her gastric bypass - I hope she took out some to get a new front tooth!!

:rotfl2: That was bothering me the whole time. I think that's how the demons channel themselves into her.

There was an article in our local paper today about Psycho woman. She made out like the producers of the show totally "framed" her and that she is not like that. The article actually implied that the national media wanted to portray all Christians as nutcases and used her.

I think that is just horrible. Last week she was so proud to be on the show...but after that last episode...well she just didn't like the way she came across and now of course it is someone else's fault.

I just hate it when people use a situation to get what they want and then turn on everyone involved when their true colors show up. She is the only one responsible for her actions. No one else made that stuff up or made her do the things she did.

But they had a thing afterwards that showed how the money was distributed - $20000 to the psycho lady to get gastric bypass. Of course, when she found out what it was, then she decided to take it. Hypocrisy I tell ya!

tee hee... That lady was something else. In my sermon (I am a pastor) on the Sunday following the airing of that show I used this as an illustration of a point I was making. It fit in well, but I'll spare everyone the sermon recap. :goodvibes
