We're trying to decide whether to order from garden grocer, or just go to the Trading Post for our necessities? We have the ddp, but I need my diet coke in the morning and evenings:) The only things we really need will be pop, milk, water, bread, maybe cheese, or some fruit...Is the trading post really overpriced for their items? Do they have much selection?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would just use the trading post for what you need. That way you can get it when you need it & not have to wait around for a delivery. You might pay a teensy bit more than GG, but the convenience IMHO is worth it.

A resort refill mug also comes in handy for pop.

Figure about twice as much for groceries at The Trading Post over your local market.

Milk, bread, cheese are not that bad but fruit is very limited apples, bananas, and oranges. Pop, water and anything alcoholic is very expensive. But I agree if you only need small quantities just pick it up if and when you need it. Another option is if you go to DTD there is a gas station across the street that has much better prices on all kind of drinks.

Thanks! Exactly what I needed to know:) 20 days and counting....I'm starting to enter panic mode:yay:

Go to the Hess station at DTD (get off at the West Side/Pleasure Island stop). Some things are expensive like bread, but Milk is still average price, about 2.50-2.80 around here. And you'll be able to pick up a 12 pack of coke for a resonable price. But you might be better off with a refillable mug, that was you have a nice cold drink, and it's at least on your way to the magic kingdom.

There's more food at the MK hess station, but there's really no way to get to it by Disney transportation. And besides milk and sodas, you'd probably spend about the same as you would at the Trading Post.

It's a month old, but here's some prices/sales they had going on then in Post #12

Just remember that they can only sell Coca-Cola products on WDW property. We drove to the Hess station looking for some Pepsi products, and were told that they signed an agreement as part of the lease. No Mountain Dew and no Monster drinks when we were there last summer.

I'm sure the trip will be great, be sure to post a TR here when you get back.

The trading post prices aren't too bad - kind of like your local convenience store vs. your local supermarket. The same with the groceries at the DVC resorts. I usually bring the unperishables with me and then supplement with fresh stuff from the on property stores.

If you have your vehicle, I would even suggest hitting a Publix or Wal Mart Super Center - they aren't too far outside Disney. We have made runs to both of them from the Ft. - even for just a few nights stay.

We head over on Tuesday for 7 nights and already have a Publix/Wal Mart planned on Saturday or sooner to replinish milk, etc...Although I have bought stuff at the trading post in desperate need...pancake syrup was about 2 times what i pay at Publix for a much smaller bottle! But it was desperate :) Pancakes were ready and I forgot to pack the syrup!

There's a Publix, WalMart and even a well-stocked Walgreens only 10-15 mins from FW. Head out "the back way" past Port Orleans and through DTD onto Hotel Plaza Blvd. At the end, go left at the light onto Apopka-Vineland...

...straight ahead about .25 miles on the left is a Walgreens with a pretty decent grocery section

...straight ahead a little further up the road is a Publix

...turn left at the first light onto Palm Parkway and there is a Super WalMart on the left about 5 minutes up the road. If you follow this road all the way to the end where it hits Kirkland, there's a great Whole Foods on the right corner.
