Trading Points?

Has anyone ever traded points or reservations so that you can reserve at 11 months and get the resort you want?
For instance, since ** is my home resort, I can reserve it at 11 months out. I am wanting to stay at ** but, of course, I can't reserve it until 7 months out.
Could someone whose home resort is ** and wants to stay at ** make a reservation at ** for us and I make a reservation at ** for them? This would help to insure that both families get the resorts they want earlier. Little details such as differences in point totals could be taken care of by renting the few that make up the difference.
Is this even possible and has it been done? I don't want to do anything that is against the rules and I am just wondering right now. Thanks.

In short "yes" is the answer. You will want to visit our DVC Rent/Trade Board for these types of transactions. The sticky posts on top of the board explain how it all works.

We certainly have general questions on the subject allowed here on the other DVC Boards, but no details may be posted such as resort names, dates, etc. That could be construed as a seeking Trade post by some, which is not allowed here on the DIS. Hence the first post has been edited out somewhat.

Actually, trading is not commonly done here on the DIS, as you can see by the postings on that board. Unless perhaps folks make those arrangements with friends? Not sure, but there you go!
