Hi, my son has been begging for a DSi even tho I really don't think one is necessary since he already has a DSlite. I went to Gamestop and asked about trading in used stuff and he mentioned an Edge membership (i think $15) which gives you 10% more on used game tradeins and such. Do any of you guys get this membership? and has anybody upgraded to a DSi with a tradein? Thanks!

I'd advise against Gamestop. They will give you a pittance on what it's worth. Better route would be to try Craigslist or Ebay.

For games, I never use Gamestop. I use Toys R Us. They seem to give the highest value: http://www.toysrustradeincenter.com/

They don't do hardware though.

That being said I just went to the Gamestop website and see they have an additional $30 credit on trade in of hardware when new hardware is purchased so that might be a good deal.

Definitely get the card. I do buy games at gamestop (as it's local) and if you buy a lot of games then it would be worth it.

Best Buy allows you to trade in your game system for store credit (you can do it in person or online - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Electro...In/pcmcat133600050011.c?id=pcmcat133600050011). I'm not sure about the games, I never looked into that. Both of my kids got Christmas money from their grandparents this year, but they both got DSs the year prior, and I refused to buy them DSis. I told them they could trade in theirs and pay the difference, so that is what they did. Their DSs were slightly scratched from dropping here and there and I think they got about $60 each - not too bad for us considering we live overseas and we are limited in what we can do and I didn't want to go through ebay. If you chose to do it online, you can get an estimate before you mail it in (postage paid), and if you are not satisfied with their value, they will send it back :)

Ditto. They'll give you $5 for a game and turn around and sell it used for $45. Complete ripoff. Sell them yourself unless you just don't care about value and want to be rid of them.

Also,

Keep in mind that the DSi XL will be coming out in the next few months...I have two DS's and my DS11 got the DSi for Christmas. Of course he's bummed because he just found out about the DSi XL. (He'll get over it).

Ditto, just posted a few links recently about the new release also.

DS traded in his DS lite for the DSi when it first came out at Gamestop because they were doing a great incentive, they will probably do one again when the DSi XL is released if he can wait. We ended up paying around $100 oup for the DSi.

We will probably get the DSi XL when it is released more for me than him because now between his ipod touch and his laptop he never touches the DSi.
