Trading for Credits? PLEASE be careful

I want to ask anyone who is considering trading for credits to realize how risky this type of trade is. VMK does not approve of this type of trade, not to be mean, but because of the HIGH instance of scamming that occurs. Unfortunatley, we have heard one too many instances of DIS members being scammed in this type of trade. If you need credits to purchase items, a shopping spree is a much safer way to trade.

If you do still choose to participate in a trade involving credits, PLEASE think about a few things first:

1. Be prepared to lose your item(s) and credits - This is truly a risk you are taking.

2. How well do you know the other trader involved? Don't only look at post count, review the content of past posts and trading history first. (even this is no guarantee that everything will go as you plan)

3. Be sure you know who you are trading with in the game. Unfortunately we have seen a scam that claimed more than one victim at a time. Never trade your item, or give credits to someone else on "behalf" of the person arranging the trade. ie: You give the credits to my friend and then I will give you the item. Or, you give me the item and then go see my friend who will give you the credits. Using a CL to hold the actual item being traded can help lower the risk, but it is still there.

If you receive a PM that sounds like a scam, please forward it to a Moderator for review. In the end, you have to play it safe and smart to prevent being scammed. :thumbsup2

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. Also remember everyone, that staff are starting to get strict about not using a quest machine. My suggestion? Trade the items that the person said he/she wants and would buy with those credits.

If you do offer something in exchange for credits, make sure the other person lets you take the quest and get the credits first. Most of the trades I have made, I've offered people credits for items, but I always let them get the credits first so they know that I'm not going to scam them. Of course, I've started only trading with Disers, so I know I can trust whoever I trade with and I know they'll give me the items if I give them the credits first.

Trading credits and room codes can be risky. When I did a trade for a room code for credits, I offered to trade the person that amount of credits worth of items available at the time. With all the costumes and Halloween items out now, it really doesn't make sense to risk trading credits with a quest kiosk.

How do you "Trade Credits" ?

I am just curious i dont know how somebody could possibly trade credits since VMK only allows items to be traded .

Trading credits involves using a quest kiosk to give the other player credits. You create a quest with credits as the prize, and they win the quest and get the credits. You have to do a trade to get the item, and cannot guarentee that they will do the quest and then give you the item, or that the person won't get the item and then close the quest before the player can get the credits. Or someone else could come and get the credits instead of the person who was supposed to get them. That's why trading for credits this way is not a recomended use for the quest kiosk.

the onley way i trade credits is if it is a diser that i know

This also holds true for any trades MORE than 15 items.

In those cases, using a CL to hold the valuable item helps.
If I were to do a credit trade to someone, I have a list of CLs I would
trust to hold the items while the trade was being made.

I wouldn't trade my credits via quest kiosk unless the other player
was willing to let the trusted CL hold their item for me until the quest
trade is completed.

This needs to be read by everyone!

Friendly bump!

This is truley a great thread

When i trade credits for items I usually do the half the credits before the trade, half after the trade. Just to make sure things get done proper. That way if you are ripped off, at least don't lose all your stuff and get nothing for them in return.
