Trading Apps for Desserts on the Dining Plan

Anyone have any luck asking their servers, in any restaurants, if they can swap out an app for a dessert...as long as they're the same price or cheaper. I'm not sure if we tried last year for Free Dining and had no success. Just seeing if anyone had a positive experience and where. TIA!

Getting an app instead of a dessert has never been allowed, no matter the price difference.

At some table service restaurants you might be able to substitute something for the dessert, but it will be an item chosen by the restaurant in advance. Most often it has been a small side salad, a cup of soup or a vegetable. Since not all restaurants will allow this, you will have to ask at each one.

Not being able to exchange a dessert for one of the appetizers on the menu is one of the most consistently enforced rules of the dining plan.

Also, my extra note on this subject is that if you are depending on the ability to make substitutions to make the plan work for you, then maybe the plan isn't a good idea for you.

*shrug*, even still. If the plan isn't a good fit, you might get better value looking for another discount and paying for meals out-of-pocket. (Or you might not. Still pays to work it out all available ways.)

It would be nice to have a choice but nope. Doesn't happen
