I just got DH to agree to a trip to Florida in January. YIPPEE. We will fly into Orlando for 8 days...however, this trip we must visit relatives in Tampa and Ocala.

We will definitely visit WDW but not sure for how many days.

If I buy park hoppers, then only use 2 days, I can trade them in for APs when I go in April, correct?

If I trade them in, will the AP be effective as of April, or is it retroactive to January?

That's correct.

It will start the day you upgrade it. You will be applying the prorated dollar value of the unused park admissions on the PH towards the price of the new AP.

The only time an AP is backdated is when you upgrade a ticket within 7 days of first use and apply the entire amount you paid for the ticket towards the cost of the AP. In that case, the AP date will be backdated to the day you used your first park admission.
