So quick question regarding drinks at Trader Sam's. Are you able to purchase some of the mugs without alcohol? I know I'll be having a drink, but with trying to get several mugs, I know that I can't (or rather shouldn't), drink all that alcohol. I believe you can, but want to make sure.

Sorry no, you need to purchase the drink in order to get the mug. You can gift the drink if you wish. Don't count on many (if any) mugs being in stock though. If you are a a collector already check the Trader Sam's groups on Facebook and Reddit.

If it's just about having too much alcohol, could you order some of the drinks virgin style? I mean, you'd pay the same price but then you could collect the mugs without ending up in the bushes with the cats at the end of the night.

When I was there in July they had several, but I didn't pay much attention to what they had/didn't have since I wasn't buying any that trip.

@fivelittles - it varies between the 2 locations but what I've read was they were getting low in stock, I can't find any specific stock posts for ETB that are recently, just GG. IMHO it's a big deal to be out of mugs, could be supply issues or could be they are revamping all the mugs. Some of the newest editions were looking a bit rough. I'll try another source this afternoon to see if he knows. Since Tiki Oasis just took place everyone is talking about all the other mug purchases right now

I have been refused to buy a mug without the drink; I prefer beer and ordered that, but wanted to buy a mug but no. Can't remember if it was east or west though. Probably at Poly. At DL, they sold me a Zombie one but let me order a different mixed drink, becasue they were out of most of them (and that was pre-Covid).

I sat at the bar in TS in early June and I wanted the Piranha Pool mug but not I didn't really want the Piranha drink. The piranha mug wasn't in stock so the bartender told me I could pick any of the other mugs in stock and get whatever drink I wanted in the mug of my choice. So I got a Zombie in a Tangaroa Cooler glass.

Gypsybear, I have always been in the same boat, but it has worked out well. I was once at the Grog Grotto alone and I wanted that Nautilus SO BAD - I asked if I could just get the mug, even if I pay full price for the drink and all. He told me they had to pour it if I wanted it. He said that I didn't have to drink it - well, yeah. Anyway, I ended up asking him to see if this other table wanted to drink up a free Nautilus - the answer that I heard was. "I wouldn't say no." Then they waived me over, and I ended up hanging out with some off-duty CMs for the night. We had a great time chatting, one had worked at DL and Tokyo DL, which I had been to. One of them also took my email address and gave me a few freebie FPs for the following day! It was just a generally great experience. I did also once have someone drink my drink at DL's Trader Sam's and we had a nice chat too. You can just make some new friends that way!
