we are going to Trader Sam's on March 6th. We know there are always wait lines for things, but if we get there right at opening how long will the wait be normally? Will we still have enough time to enjoy it and make it to Hollywood Studios by 730p? Thank you for the help!

There's not necessarily a normal. At open, you may go straight in, or you may get pagers and wait two hours if you want to go in, versus sit on the Terrace.

We've gone twice at opening and have not had a problem getting in. The first time we went was when it first opened. We arrived at 3:30 pm and were in the first group to get in. The second time we went was this past December 19 and we arrived around 3:55 pm and, again, were in the first group to get in. If your evening plans depend on getting in early, I would suggest getting to Poly around 3:30 pm and getting in line (they line up in the hallway right outside Trader Sam's). We spent about 45 minutes in there (we had drinks and apps) and saw all the antics. If you are just getting drinks, it won't take as long (the apps held us up a little bit). Yes, if you are out of Trader Sam's and waiting for the bus by 6:00 pm, you should have no problem getting to DHS by 7:30 pm. You can also just take an uber to get there quickly. If you do uber, I would plan on leaving around 6:30 pm.

While you don't have to get there right at opening and can sometimes walk right in, we like to get there before opening to ensure we are one of the first ones in only because seating can be problematic if you get there after it is already open. We think Trader Sam's is a fun place to meet other guests and really don't mind sitting anywhere as long as we can sit! We have noticed, however, that MANY people are uncomfortable sitting at a larger seating area with people they don't know there or would prefer sitting somewhere a bit more private (which is difficult in Trader Sam's). One time we ended up sitting in an area with a small shared table (we tend to spend at lot of time Trader Sam's and linger over drinks and appetizers), there were several very outgoing couples who came in and immediately sat across from us and we all had a great time talking together, but sometimes there were people who came in who were clearly not comfortable sitting directly across from people they don't know and they clearly did not want to talk. It became kind of a running joke with our server - some people would come in, see the empty chairs across from us, we would smile at them and gesture that they were welcome to sit, but they would turn around and walk out inside of sitting there! We are not scary looking people and we both showered that day (LOL!!) so clearly some people are just not comfortable in that kind of environment. We, however, have met a lot of really great people at Trader Sam's.

After all that my point is this - if you want to be able to choose where you are going to sit get there before it opens. If you don't care if you are seated with others who might want to chat it up, you can get there later.

If we're just going go get drinks and would be fine with sitting out on the Terrace (my main goal is to get some of the glasses :rotfl: ) have you found that that scenario would have a long wait?
