Trader Sam's Tips? - Going on Monday 8/2

How did your visit yesterday go? Trying to plan our attempt at getting in when we go to DL later this month.

Hey there! We didn’t make over there. We started at Hearthstone and then had a reservation at Uva. Had to get to Uva for the parking validation as they don’t give you that at TS’s. I was beat from my time in the heat at the Parks. Whewwww…it was a hot one!

Ok so if I’m understanding it correctly, you can go to Tangaroa Terrace at 11am, and still have access to the Trader Sams drink menu? Tangaroa Terrace is the outdoor part right with the food?

You’re technically at Trader Sam’s, outdoors, with a server, like the receipt said Trader Sam’s on it. It’s the same kitchen and same food as Tangaroa Terrace. If you want a server and drinks, just go to the host stand and ask for a seat rather than going to the ordering counter for TT. I had a cocktail at my table by 11:30, though, which is really the important takeaway.

I hope that makes sense.

Do you think that is lunch inside? Or still just outside on the terrace?

You line up at the bottom of the stairs in front of Tangoroa Terrace (where the TT check in stand is- between TT and the pool) along the walkway, not in front of Trader Sams itself. A CM will start collecting names/numbers around 340PM (TS opens at 4PM) to send you a text when they're ready for you. After your text, then you proceed to TS entrance.

Will Trader Sam’s be taking reservations for indoor seating?! The inside is really what’s worth it, right? I’ve only got in once in my last three yearly trips before covid hit and it was standing room only. If I recall they only had like ten tables… has the place been expanded or remodeled?

Does anybody know if it’s possible to go inside trader sams after the park closes? I keep hearing it’s like a 2+ hour wait. Is it still this long if we showed up at like 10pm?

That’s the only time I’ve tried on my previous trips. (Always late October time). Usually between 10 and 11:30pm I would check and it was always 45 minutes or longer. The only time I got in I was solo, it was like 11:30pm, and it was standing room only for me. Worth it, but not an ideal experience.

Now that they’re about to take reservations, it sounds like I’ll be up all hours of the night trying to secure reservations for this year. I absolutely love that place and wish themed tiki bars were a lot easier to find!
