Trader Sams questions

Yes to both! If you have a reservation, you automatically will be seated inside. You can request to be seated outside, though. It's pretty chilly inside so we usually request an outside table. It's the same restaurant on both the inside/outside so it's the same menu! :) There is another restaurant that is more quick service around the corner from Trader Sam's, called Tangaroa Terrace, but they share the same kitchen so many of the same if not all of the items are available over there too.

If you're not that picky with being seated inside and have no luck with reservations, walk up wait times are generally pretty reasonable.

Be warned, though - the drinks have been trending super strong. A lot of people like that because I guess it gives more bang for your buck, but ours were so strong in October that I couldn't finish halfway through my margarita (I'm not sure what it's called on the menu?). The time before in March were made deceptively strong as well (we had two and didn't realize how much alcohol was in them until we were walking back to the room... :scared:).

I've had great luck getting TS reservations by trying for ADRs as soon as the booking window opens. If you've never been, then I highly recommend inside for the full experience! It's so much fun, more so if the other people around you are likewise having a good time.

The outdoor area is nice for larger groups or if you're not interested in all of the interactive stuff inside. It has a more laid-back Polynesian vibe, and often there is a band that plays beautiful island music as a nice background. Menu and drinks are the same.

You can also order drinks from the outdoor bar.

I love both inside and outside seating, but I would really encourage you to try inside if you've never been!

The last time I made reservations it was for later in the evening, I asked to be seated inside and was asked if everybody in my party was over 21, so I don't know if that will be an issue for you

Has anyone been able to make reservations in the app? Are they gone immediately after the 60 day release?

I see times right now for 60 days out (as of 6:06am PST), but I don’t expect them to last too much longer. They seem to get booked up pretty quick. (This is my week to be up at 6am to book dining for our February trip.)

Not a comment about TS, but I love your Doubtful Guest profile photo!

Dang, they do book up quick. Newbie question...do the dining reservations 60 days out open at 6am PST? For some reason I remember a few years ago people saying they would wake up at 3am PST to book dining :O

That seems to be not too clear. It seems there are folks who can book starting as early as 3am PT, and some people who are locked out until 6am PT. I’ve been able to book my stuff before 6am, but I’ve just been checking as soon as I wake up (which happens to be around 5:30am) and so far at that time I’ve been able to get all the times I wanted (for midweek in February).

I booked a couple Trader Sams reservations last week. I booked them right at the 60 day mark. I booked the first one at about 4am and the other one was at 6am. Some days I tried to book around 5:45am and could not until 6am. So who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

The only reservations I was really wanting to book were Trader Sam’s, Ogas and Blue Bayou. I knew I would need to do them early at the 60 day mark, and as long as I did so, easy-peasy.

Yep - at 8:00 p.m. it switches to over 21 only inside Trader Sams. Earlier in the day all ages are allowed.
