Trader Sam's gift shop on the Jungle Cruise

It looks like the Trader Sam character is being replaced by a pretty detailed gift shop.... and it looks pretty cool!

I think the scene is going to be pretty awesome and will take multiple cruises to appreciate everything the imagineers put into it!

I'm going to guess he'll be a character in name only. Much easier to avoid "problems" if you never depict him.

I agree that this is the most likely scenario. I think the gift shop concept art looks great! It would be cool if Sam was there at the counter, but no matter how he is portrayed, there's the risk that he would still comes under scrutiny, so I expect that he will always have "just stepped away" or be "out making new acquisitions" whenever a boat passes by.

ETA: I'm also happy that they chose to still include Trader Sam in the story line, even if he's not physically present.

Yeah, that's probably wha thtey will do. Still, I would think they could create a version that isn't so stereotypical. I mean, I had posted a comparison to the DL version of Sam (technically the MK version was a different character), and he wasn't as bad. It seems like they could do something. Surely the new Jungle Cruise movie has a version - if we ever get to see it!

There are also rumors that the "Cruise Photo" may mean an on-ride photo, however I am not sure how that would work with a boat full of people seated on both sides. It may be used for a joke too, which would be fine.

Definitely looks like the monkey could be "operating" the camera.

Ride pic would be awesome but I could see it squirting water too, a la the camel. But I think it will be a shame to not have an actual headhunter character somewhere. The shrunken head bit is funny, but I have no idea why; it’s my favorite part of Beetlejuice.

Yeah, I mean, I don't think the very concept of a headhunter should be offensive, but I don't know much about it. As long as he isn't a goofy characiture then I wouldn't think too much of it.
