I saw a menu online of the drinks, but no prices. How much are the specialty drinks here? Are there any I must get or avoid in your opinion? Do any come with a special show? Two were listed in a souvenir glass - is it cool or too expensive?

I have been to Trader Sams a couple of times. I can't answer all your questions, and if the food and drink are worth it would be left up to individual opinion. I for one loved the atmosphere and thought it was worth it. I did not order any of the signature drinks but one definitely comes with a show. I remember asking about the Krakatoa drink that is served in a ceramic tiki glass with the souvenir glass the drink was $17.50. If you opt to have it served in a regular bar glass you can save $5.00. I had a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and it was $9.75. I also ordered the fish tacos ($9.99). The tacos were great. :tink:

My wife and I went to Trader Sam's a couple of times last month during our anniversary trip. Went back because we loved it! The bar and bartenders are their own show. So much fun. There are several drinks that, if you order them, you get a show when it's delivered. We ordered the Uh Oa. When they bring it out, the lights dim and flicker, similar to the rain scene in the Tiki Room. Then the bartender/waiter brings out the drink, leading the entire room in a chant of "Uh Oa! Uh Oa!", while he lights the drink. They provide you with spices to throw in, which flame and sparkle.

Most of the drinks came in at just under $10 per person. The Uh Oa! is a two person drink, and it was just under $20 for two. Of course, you'll want to add a tip to that, which brings it in higher.

Highly recommended. Trader Sam's is one of my new favorite places at DLR.

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get to this location? I am thinking of surprising DH with a drink there during our upcoming trip.

My family and I really enjoyed this place back in December. Very fun, cool place with outdoor seating if you can't get a place inside the bar area.

As GrandBob said, it's around $10 per person, with the popular drink being the Uh Oa made for two people. Presentation was awesome for this drink, buy lighting it on fire and sprinkling cinnamon on top, however, we didn't feel like it was entirely made for two people. We each could have had our own and still ordered an additional drink.

For food, the flatbreads were very tasty!

I don't think i'd pay extra for souvenir glasses. Instead, buy an appetizer or another drink and enjoy!

I'm assuming this is a bar where children are not allowed, correct? :)

There were kids outside in the patio area when we were there :)

We took our kids inside over the summer time - did not really realize what t was, and one child needed to use the restroom, the bartenders were great! there was maybe 2 couples inside, and the bartenders greeted our girls, and showed us to the restrooms, and when we finished, they did the "shows" for us! The girls were thrilled. One bartender discretely told my hubby it was a bar, and if we needed a restroom next time (we were there all week) there was one around the corner in the restaurant, and also showed us a menu for the restaurant next door, where we enjoyed some yummy food! Salmon on the kids menu! it was our favorite place to eat!
They treated our girls very well, and made sure we knew it was a bar, but were very nice about it.. and the girls got to see the "shows" it was nice!

My impression from previous threads on the Trader Sam's was that it's for everyone up until a certain time in the evening (7pm? 8pm?) when it becomes more of a bar-bar for adults only.
I am not sure if "adults" means 18 and up or do they mean 21 and up, people legal to drink alcohol, which I am sure will be a relevant issue for someone's group.

That was our experiance. We had our kids in there with us over christmas and I was told by the bar tender that they were allowed up until 8:00 pm, no problem. :confused3

I went back through my pictures and noted the time (9:46pm) that I was taking them. I remember specifically we were waiting for a large party with tons of kids to move so our party could take their seats on the comfy chairs and couches. I'm wondering if it's in the actual 'bar' area that they don't allow kids in, but allow them out on the deck? :confused3

Oh they do allow the kids out on the deck area no matter what the time, as we where there often at around 10:00 (we have teenagers), I do believe it was inside that after 8:00 they do not allow kids in. But up until then we had the kids in there with us.

Thanks for all the info. Our kids are only 4 and 7 so we'd be there earlier in the day/evening. I guess I'll just double check with them first. :)

Does anyone know when it opens for business--is it opened for lunch or later?

this sounds like a pretty neat bar. we are not staying @ DLR, if we decided to come for dinner is there separate parking for the hotel? Or would we have to park at the parks parking ?

SGMCO - I do believe it's open for lunch!

blakefamily - you can park at the Downtown Disney Parking lot instead of parking in the parking structure. :thumbsup2
