Trader Joe's grocery store

I'm another who LOVES, LOVES, LOVES TJs, and I'm lucky that there is one within walking distance of my house. :cool1:

Trader Joe's is great!!!!

They have some neat stuff there, their pre-made foods are delish.

We love it there.

We have a trader joes right down the street from me. It is the closest store to me.

There are too many things I love there to list them all.

Don't go right after an add goes out. The places is crazy then! :cool1:

We use a lot of their frozen foods. They have some pretty good mixes too.

Oh boy....when I moved to MI from CA, the thing I missed the most was my Trader Joe's! I used to shop at the Covina & the Pasadena one. My friend Sean is the manager at the Pasadena store. Then I heard one was opening in Royal Oak (MI) & I was just so excited! It is about 30 minutes out of my way but sometimes I just have to go there. Their stuff is unique, delicious & very reasonable & they have a lot of organic & all natural items there too. One of my cousins who loves TJ lives in Florida but everytime she comes out she asks me to bring her there. (That is about the most exciting thing here in South Eastern Michigan!) :teeth:

For those that live in MI, they have also opened one in Rochester Hills although I haven't been to that one yet. (Soon though!!)

The RO one is a few blocks from my house. I am in there at least once a week. Maybe I will see you there. Look for the cute kids, the older one will be running into people with little cart and I will be yelling at her and eating from the free coffe and samples. :rotfl:

Oh man, I can't believe I'm not the only crazy person to move from CA to MI!! What made you do it?

I used to shop at the one in Burbank as that was the closest to me, but I have been often to the ones in Eagle Rock, Glendale, and Pasadena on Arroyo Parkway if I'm remembering correctly. Which one does your friend manage? It seemed like no matter where you went in that Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena area there was always one nearby. I miss that.

I love Trader Joes! I'm eating my favorite ginger ornament cookies with my tea right now!

Are these stores only in the North? We don't have any down here that I've seen. All we have is Whole Foods, which is kind of pricey.

IME it's much cheaper than whole foods but not quite the selection (esp of produce). that said, I ADORE TJ's!!! we have one a mile away and we shop there every week.

it has the BEST prices on organic milk (and sells it in gallons - that's important)
you can't beat their organic mac and cheese shells for a buck
our kids adore the soy corn dogs and we don't feel so bad giving them to them.
people seem to like working there - they're always so friendly!

great prices, great food, what's not to love?

I LOVE TJs. Some of my standard purchases are: fat free cottage cheese, bags of almonds, cereals, crumpets, sushi, frozen bison burgers, frozen turkey burgers, morningstar farms corn dogs, frozen veggie dumplings. YUM! Reminds me I should make a trip there in the morning. :teeth:

I like the TJ brand of vegie corn dogs, too. I'll have to try the vegie dumplings. We tried the frozen eggplant parmesan yesterday, which was very good.

I like their frozen Mandarin Chicken. It does take two bags ($4.99 each) to feed my family of 4, but it does make for a nice Chinese night (because our Chinese restaurants STINK). The double ginger cookies are great. The peanut butter cups are to die for. Lots of other good things, too. Just can never remember them all.

Tigger&Belle--is it true that the Maryland TJ's don't sell wine?

Trader Joes is great for certain things. I don't like their produce, but I LOVE their sauces and dry food. They're much more reasonably priced on certain things versus the grocery store in my area. Especially things like non-RGBHT milk, eggs, Kashi cereal, whole grain bread, etc.

I love their Soyaki sauce. It's like Teriyaki, but not as sweet. I bake chicken in it and serve with rice and broccolli for an easy and healthy meal.

I shop at both Trader Joes and Whole foods. I ONLY shop at whole foods because my DD is allgeric to milk and eggs and there are some things I can only get their. As it is I try to ONLY by what I can only get there and go to other places for things such as bannanas and other standard foods. Some things both TJ and WF has, and it is normally a buck cheaper at TJ (this is true of other stores also.)

Things I can't live with out at TJ are:

The numbers Gaucamole
Gender Clintro Noodle bowls (fresh premade)
Pumkinbread mix, Cranberry orange muffine mix, Chocate truffle mix (all TJ brand.)
White corn chips, TJ salsa
Frezze dried strawberries (baby loves them)
Beef and Chicken Taquitos (frozen) Currenlty my lunch :cool1:

So many other things, all of these are without dairy and eggs so I can eat (or make them that way.)

Their veggie bruschetta tapanade makes for awesome pizza sauce with fresh basil and feta cheese

We have some odd beer and wine laws here (not sure if it's Mont Co or all of MD). I believe that only one store in the county can sell beer/wine. So to buy beer and wine at Shoppers Club, I have to go to the Germantown Store. I remember when we first moved here from Texas and we went to Pizza Hut with other friends (who'd also just moved here from TX) and ordered pizza and beer. They told us they didn't serve beer--we were stunned. :rotfl: I guess only one Pizza Hut could have the beer/wine license. Not sure if it's still this strict--this was 14 years ago.

Not sure if any Trader Joes in our area have beer and wine, but I'll be sure and go the next time we are in VA. I'll have to ask when I go tomorrow.

We do 95% of our weekly shopping at TJ’s. I like the fact you can read the label and know what all the ingredients are. LOL .

All of their milk is hormone free as well as their eggs. And they have the best frozen peas.

We were just there last night. I bought several bottles of wine, some of their cheese and a loaf of cheese bread. I love that place!
