Has anyone done this? What kind of deal did you get? I'm curious because I've never traded a week for a cruise.

I would be interested in this also, was actually discussing this with MIL and DH today to see if this was possible.

Hello! :goodvibes

I would also like to learn if there is any benefits to trading your week.

I've never actually done it, but I've looked into before. It doesn't seem to be such a hot deal. You usually have to pay close to the actual price, so there doesn't seem to be much benefit to trading your week in for the cruise. This was last year though, so maybe it has changed for the better since then.

I looked into it through II last year and I assume it would be very similar for RCI. We were told that what you are trading is a room for room and meals so there will always be money owed. The two things (the exchange week and the cruise) are not equal because the cruise includes your food. The money you will pay is for food. I didn't check any further than that.

I randomly picked a cruise date and stateroom category and priced the same one on both the RCI website and the DCL website.

September 26th, 2009, stateroom category 4:

DCL price -

Stateroom One Price: $3,798.00
Government Taxes & Fees: $111.16
Stateroom One Total: $3,909.16

RCI price -
Cost for Cruise: $3,598.00
Govt Fees: $111.16
Processing Fee: $24.95
Exchange Fee: $199.00 :headache:
Approximate Total Price: $3,933.11

You have to pay $200 to use your week... and it's STILL more expensive than the DCL price... what's the benefit here?

I'm sure there are going to a be alot of takers on that deal!!!

Somehow I knew that would be the case...I think I'll keep my weeks, thank you!

I also have one of RCI's cruise vouchers. Let me tell you, you're not missing out...the only deals are on the crazy expensive jumbo suites. We're just not suite kinda' people, ya' know?

I just can't seem to find a deal on DCL. I guess I'll just have to pay the price with everybody else!;)

We're not suite people either but just once I'd like to be the one in one of the Disney suites!!!;)

I was wondering the same thing. Guess we will go to Mexico on our week and pay for DCL. Nice, two enjoyable vacations.

What is RCI?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I am curious as to what RCI is.

Thanks so much.

RCI is a timeshare group. My in laws have points through Wyndham, but they can use their points through RCI also. At least now I know to never let them use their point's for a cruise.

RCI and Interval International (II) are a timeshare trading company. You can trade your timeshare week for a cruise with them as well as to other timeshares once a member.

Their deal on cruises makes using your DVC points for a Disney cruise seem like not that bad of a deal although most will tell you it isn't a good use of points. Guess they haven't explored this option yet!!

If you are lucky you will get about $100 off a week cruise. Not enought to trade your week for me.

I looked into doing this for a Holland America Alaska cruise. We could buy the cruise (cash) for $75 less than doing it with trading our points. It seemed senseless to me!
