Thanks to a very generous Dis'er who had DVc points booked that he was unable to use (or cancel) My husband and I spent his birthday in a 2 BR villa at OKW for FREE. It was Gorgeous (and bigger than my 3 BR house!) We got in around 5:00 PM. checked in, then straight to the gift shop where I was disappointed they had no pins of the resort. We are traders and are collecting pins from each of the resorts we stay in (wanna get them ALL) once we unpacked and made dinner reservations for the next night we took the boat from OKW to DTD and ate a lovely dinner at Bongo's then went to the candy cauldron (looking for chocolate covered strawberrys to go with the wine we brought and that Jacuzzi tub:) No strawberrys but we got some sweets anyway and headed back home for a nice long bubble bath. Of course not having a Jacuzzi tub I added too much bubble bath and they were practically over my head :) Much to our dismay and the sudden nature of our plans the next night we stayed at the All Star Music Resort. Talk about getting knocked down a peg!!! We have never stayed in the moderate resorts but found it adequately acommodating although I never thought to take a blow dryer with me-and it was too cold to leave the room with wet hair-I was freezing!!! after we checked in we went to AK and I got to go on Everest for the first time. Wish I'd have had my son with me- hubby doesn't do rollercoasters- the up side is that the single rider line was about an hour LESS than the regular one and I got on in about 20 minutes. FANTASTIC it is my new favorite disney ride, although I will always have a soft spot for mr. toads wild ride which is, alas, no more. 5:00pm left AK took the bus to MK to go on Pirates to see the Jack Sparrow addition, but the wait was like 90 minutes and it was butt cold and we had dinner ressies at the Marrakesh at 7:00pm. Great dinner , dissapointed by the belly dancer but you can't win'em all. The next morning we slept in and went Monorail hpping through the resorts, did some pin trading and went home. It was nice to have a weekend sans kids and to stay at OKW for FREE. It certainly solidified our desire to join the DVC and we are going to start planning to buy in next year.
Thanks again Greenban!!!

glad you had a good time :thumbsup2
now you know how we DVCers feel about our homes :cool1:

What a great gift for your Dh!!

Really enjoyed your report :thumbsup2

Just a point of information, the All Star Music Resort is actually a value, not a moderate resort. And I'm probably mixed up. I thought Pop had hair dryers when I stayed there. Never mind me -- probably an incipient senior moment!

Wow, what a fabulous way to try out DVC!! We are doing a quick weekend trip next weekend, hope the weather warms up. Glad you had a great time!

Glad you had a good time. Look forward to Welcome you Home soon.

T-Beri:

I'm so glad all went well for you and DH. I finally got the new search function to respond to me (Yes I'm 'puter challenged!) and found your TR.

Have a happy and healthy New Year!

We sometime begin or end our DVC stays at POP. It has been our expeience that for some reaso, some rooms had hair dryers and some didn't. :confused3

Maybe they are adding them in sections? Or maybe all of POP has them now, as the last two or three trips we had hair dryers.

Chuck:

I have heard rumors that after the Cheerleaders Stay during the first week of December, many POP hairdriers are missing. While I suppose it could be due to Pop Warner (Is that why the values are called Pop And All Stars? BTW?) I believe it is them there cheerleaders myself!

Sounds like an incredible trip you experienced! Thank you so much for trip reporting! So glad you and yours enjoyed yourselves and ITA, EVEREST ROX!

Yeah, no, you're right The all stars are "value " resorts. It's what I meant to say or rather that I usually stay at moderate resorts, somehow my fingers and my brain got their wires crossed- sorry to confuse. And I assure you there was not a hair dryer in the room as I spent the day in the freezing cold with wet hair- or at least the first 30 minutes of it.
