Am I the only one who is super bummed out? I don't like shopping online for clothes or kids toys. I can't tell the quality, the actual size or the noise level online. I do a majority of my Christmas and birthday shopping there.

I'm really just so sad about it.

I take it they are going online only. I like shopping this way, but your right, when things move forward that are a certain charm that will be gone. Im still mad I haven't smelled the paper of a book in years

I'm ok about it. I'd be sadder if I still had a baby - I prefer to choose baby items in person. But as far as toys, I get most stuff online or at Target.

Oh nooo, get to a library, book shop, your favorite charity spot will have loads of inexpensive choices. I could not survive with out a “Paper” book... page turning, the feel of it, the smell..
That’d Be like giving up Air for me..just not possible.

As far as TOys R Us.. good memories of years back, and shopping for my little one at the time. But then they get to the gift card age, then everything is online .. friends and family.
Kind of sad... but understandable how Brick and mortars are all disappearing.
I’m a local small store shopper when I can.. or online.

I did all my Christmas shopping this past year, for toys, on TRU website. Two grandsons. Their parents told me what to get. Oh, I purchased some toy things from the Disney website too. It was all so easy.

I’m kind of bummed TRU is closing down.

My kids always called it Toys For Us. They always got gift cards from their grandparents, saved them up and got a trampoline. Many hours spent on it.

Our Toys 'R Us closed after Katrina in 2005 and never reopened. I was mad and never drove the hour to shop with them again. So, in a,way I say serves them right!

Not bummed at all. Toys R Us are just like DVD rental stores. The business model is completely antiquated.

The one we used to try to shop at here was so disorganized (for example Barbies in 3 separate areas, Legos in a couple of different spots), small selections, and messy. A toy store should be a bit messy and noisy, but this place never had price tags on the shelves in the spots where the toys were...I mean, if there are 20 Barbies in that spot, I would have to assume that is where they were meant to be, not on the other side of the shelves, and two down!

I have much better luck hitting Target (or Walmart).

I'm completely heartbroken! There are so many things I can only get at TRU. I will always be a TRU kid.

Nope, the website was shut down last Sat. No more online sales. I'm still waiting on the rest of my final order to get here.

Kb toys is coming back so don't worry!

Well, kind of. They want to do temporary pop up stores for the holiday shopping season. That's something, but what about birthdays? Nearly every year for at least the past 2 decades my mom and I have went to TRU for my birthday. I have a summer birthday. My 5 year old nephew also has a summer birthday. I always do his birthday shopping at TRU.

I'll be going to my store tomorrow for another shopping trip.

On the contrary, the business model worked all too well. . A capital company saddled it with excessive debt to take it private, and then proceeded to bleed it dry. The company went bankrupt but certain individuals made money.

I'm bummed for the people who lost their jobs at TRU and BRU but there are so many other less expensive options it isn't surprising the closed.

They should just apply for jobs at Amazon. They are desperate to hire people. They had 9,000 job openings in Seattle last time I checked. I ride past the Day 1 building on my way to work and there is a line of people stretching around the block. They can't hire fast enough.

If stores are closing, why is there so much traffic on Saturday and Sundays.
That’s what I don’t get. And maybe things are different here, but do ppl not take their little kids to the toy store to pick stuff out sometimes? Everyone I know shops online a good bit, but also still visits brick & mortar stores frequently.

Ah gee......I'm sorry about this.
I don't go to the stores much anymore.....the closest was a bit of a drive, but when my kids were little we went a lot.
In fact DS's name, Geoffrey, was taken from the TRU giraffe
