I was surprised not find an answer to this when I searched. Maybe it's a silly question. ;) We'll be eating at CRT and I know that they give boys a toy sword with their meal. Am I going to have any problem taking this home in our carry-on luggage? I don't plan to check any bags. (I could send it home with my parents who will be travelling with us and checking luggage but they are going home to a completely different airport and we won't see them again before the holidays.)

And while I'm asking, any other souvenirs that could cause issues. I know about snow globes. I imagine Disney is still selling other weapon replicas that could be a problem.

I would pack it in your checked bagage. I've read to many stories that parents had to throw away the toy knife and swords. And their son was in tears. TSA telling them that if was in their chcked bag it would not be a problem.

But the OP said they wouldn't be checking any bags. The toy swords are plastic and you shouldn't have any problem getting them through security. The bag will go through the X-ray machine and I doubt that it'll even raise a concern. My daughter and my nephew have both taken plastic swords in carry on bags from MCO.

This reminded me, however, of the funniest thing we saw during our trip last month. A little boy had a plastic sword and the family was entering Epcot. He kept saying, but Dad, I have a weapon, I don't think they'll let me in. Dad was reassuring the boy that WDW wouldn't sell things that they wouldn't let into the parks, but the kid was having none of it. He was so earnest, it was hilarious. He "confessed" to the security guard about it, pulled it out of his backback and was ready to turn it over. The guard played along (to our great delight), but eventually let him in provided he promised to injure no one except a bad pirate. I'm sure the kid was looking all over Epcot for a bad pirate.

Being made of plastic will not mean you can take it on the plane. We bought aou nephew a plasic gun at POC that didn't look real at all. We had to put it in a checked bag at the airport.

It will be a problem. I walked by the bin of stuff they took from passengers and there were a lot of toy swords in the bin.

Can you bring supplies and mail it home?

I would not risk it. Have your parents take it home in their checked luggage or ship it home yourself.

We bought lightsabers at Downtown Disney (make-your-own) last month and the CM told us to make sure we packed them in our checked luggage so they wouldn't get confiscated by TSA.

Not allowed, although I'm sure they make it through security occasionally:

Items prohibited from aircraft cabins:

The following items will not be allowed through the security checkpoint. Please note that this list is not all-inclusive. In addition to items specifically listed here other items that may be deemed to present a potential threat may also be prohibited.

Toy transformer robots (this toy forms a toy gun)
Toy weapons

You can mail them home from guest services BUT they must be purchased in a Disney owned establishment and you have to show them a receipt for anything you want to mail. I would stop by guest services at your resort when you arrive about their charges. If I remember correctly they charge by the total dollar value of items shipped. The did supply us with a box.
