What strategy would you use for Toy Story Standby with the following scenario:

-- Hollywood Studios closes at 8pm. PM Extra Magic Hours from 8pm-10pm.
-- Osborne Lights are up.
-- Fantasmic at both 6:30 & 8pm.

You want to see Osborne Lights, Fantasmic, and get on Toy Story standby line.

What strategy would you use to have shortest wait??

Depends on how late you want to be there and whether you want the truly lowest wait, or the lowest wait but not being there too late

The lowest crowds would be for the 8 pm Fantasmic, then get in line for Toy Story at 9:59 pm, then go see the lights (stay on for an hour after park close), but that would put you back to your hotel/resort close to midnight.

My DD and I went over to HS around 7 or so. (if you want to see Fantasmic, I would do the early show) We went to see the lights then about 8-8:15 we went to TSM. There was a 40 minute posted wait, but I don't think we stood in line more than 30 minutes. We walked out of the park around 9:30. On the way out we checked Tot and RnRRC....Tot was a 20 min wait & RnRRC was 75! I think everyone from the 8pm Fantasmic got in the RnR line! I think I remember the TSM line picking up around 8:45. Hope this gives you some ideas.

I've read a few posts on here that said the lights do not stay on after close on EMH nights, so if the lights are a high priority I wouldn't count on that.

We are going to be there a night like that too. I'm thinking Fantasimic at 8, Lights for 30-45 minutes or so, then TSMM 15-20 minutes before park closes. If we can get on it more than once great. If not, we are coming back the next day anyway and will ride during Fantasmic.

We were there last week, and the lights stayed on during EMH (at least the first hour +), but Toy Story Mania was closed when I checked wait times during EMH. I don't know if it is typically closed during EMH or not.

Yes,the O-Lights do stay on for the entire 2 hour PM EMH period,BUT,unlike "regular days',they do not stay on for one hour "extra".:)

TSMM is a PM EMH attraction and, unless there are problems, stays open for the whole 2 hour PM EMH.:)

This was not the case in mid November this year.....we were told by the CM that Toy Story was closed because the line was the length that would take it through to EMH end. Unlike non-EMH nights when they will let you get in line up until the official closing time (and sometimes a few minutes after) and they just keep going until everyone has ridden, during EMH-evenings they cut off the line so that at the end of EMH they'll be done with the line and not staying later to finish.

So, while "technically" they were open, but not taking more people into line.

Midway Mania lines are the shortest during the first presentation of Fantasmic.

This summer, we were able to ride 4 times in about an hour at 9 pm on a non-EMH night. The posted wait time was 75 minutes, but the actual wait was 15 or less each time.
