Any tips for those that would want to go on Toy Story Mania multiple times?

Go early and often? Or if you don't mind not riding with your party I believe they have single rider.

Single rider has been gone since at least summer time. Longer than that I think, just wanted to give a heads up.

If it's a night when Disneyland is open late as well as DCA, you MIGHT find shortened lines during World of Color. I believe some people reported that to be the case last summer. (However, last summer I think more areas of DCA were open, and if Disneyland closes early for a party, I would imagine that all of DCA would be totally crowded, including TSMM.)

If you happen to get a rainy evening, TSMM might have very short lines.

I was wondering about this too, since it's a family favourite and I can't imagine it without FP and the single rider lane!! Definitely think we may have to make some hard decisions between TTMM and WoC--LOL!

For those who are used to WDW, getting on TSM is not nearly as insane. Go early, go late, but even if you go mid-day it won't be out of control. (WDW they talk about triple digit wait times- not even close to that at DCA!)

We go during peak times of the year and most often see a 45-60 minute wait time, which to us who utilize fastpass like crazy and get to the parks early, early, early so we barely wait for anything is still a long time to invest for a single ride, especially multiple times. Since we usually go multiple days, we try to make a point of riding once per day. We occasionally ride more than once in a day though because I really love this ride. One way to go is to be there for morning rope drop. If you get there early and position yourself well, you may only have a 5-15 minute wait once you get to the ride after rope drop. When you get off, the line will still be building. If you are lucky, it won't be too awful yet, but it might already be up to 30-40 minutes. We will get in line anyway since we had the "quick" wait the first time around. The other way to go is to wait until afternoon. Sometime between 1 and 3 PM, the line tends to drop down a bit, maybe people are eating or resting or whatever. We will sometimes wait in this "shorter" line a couple times in a row or all ride together once and then those of us who don't want to do Screamin' will wait a second time.

I understand why that is. With the FP line at WDW there are times during the day that 3 to 1 are being let in the final part of the line slowing down the standby a lot. Without that our 120 minute wait would have probably have been 60.

The long lines are one of the reasons I have yet to ride TSM :sad2:
One of these days though :thumbsup2
I'm surprised there is not FP line considering how popular it is, everytime i have ever walked past the wait was over an hr.

Always debatable what the effect of FP is but IMO it is not nearly as high as you estimate. FP makes lines twice as long?

There are probably a lot of reasons that contribute to the insanity at WDW- the lack of rides at DHS and especially the lack of rides that are good for young kids probably has the biggest effect.

At WDW there is a set plan you must follow if you want 3 rides (FP, ride, FP)- after that FPs are gone and the wait is in triple digits.

At DCA, folks spread out more. If you are one of the first people on, you can easily hop back in line for a second ride with not too much of a wait. My personal limit on waiting in line is 30 minutes. I tend to travel mid-week in the off season, and I can often (though not always) get on in the afternoon with my 30 or under rule.

Going to WDW and seeing Toy Story and Soarin made me re-evaluate my definition of out-of-control lines- it's just not as crazy here!

Another thought for the OP: You should consider investing in Ridemax. It's a computer program that you can purchase for about $15 (and worth every penny, if you are someone who likes to do detailed planning).

You input the attractions you want to do and the date/times you'll be there. The program spits out the best order to do the attractions in and lists the wait time for each.

You can also input one ride (aka Toy Story) over and over to get a sense of wait times. For instance, I just tried this for a random fall day. Wait times were longest mid-morning and just before closing, but down to a very reasonable 20 minutes for most of the afternoon.

Your dates are different and may have very different wait times...it's worth checking out!

TSM was the longest line we waited in last trip, we had to wait twice, once at 35min and once at 30 min.... We had resigned ourselves to only riding a few times but a health issue by one of our party (which meant a 4 hour wait in an ER room) and a very sympathetic lady at DL customer service as the issue meant it was difficult for this person to stay in a line for any length of time meant we got an assistance pass for the rest of our stay...

It was great being able to walk on but we made a point of not abusing the priviledge and limited ourselves to only one ride a day...

This is what we have done

We do the rope drop thing too, just head into DCA at 9:30, get a FP for Soarin' and then head over to wait with everyone else by GRR. Then when they release the line we walk fast (we absolutely do not run altho others do and we do get passed) to TSMM, we jump in line and get right up front (maybe 5-10 min wait), get on and ride, get off and get back in line. Normally by then the line is 30-40 minutes but we still wait for it. TSMM is a great ride, we love it!!

This was just an experience we had on our trip this year. I'm not sure if it is always like this or not at DHS but my trip report about that line is right here.

The Longest Line Ever!

On that particular day you can see the effect of the FP line on standby while many are coming back in their time window. I'm not sure what typical wait times are at DCA but how often do you have to schedule 140 minutes to get in line and out the other side there?

Wow 140 minutes for TSM??? Wow thats intense for any ride... We saw the line stretch to close to 60 minutes at times last trip to DCA but that was in August, it may be worse in July...

Keep in mind, that was in WDW. At DCA the longest I've seen the line was probably 50-60 min and that was July/August.
