Toy Story Mania Closing Time (8:30?)

Why is Toy Story closing at 8:30 every night if DHS is open until 10:00? Is this a new thing? Is it seasonal? We don't want to plan our ADRs around DHS EMHs if Toy Story won't be open for us to enjoy. Thanks for the help!

When we were there in June it was open until 12, the end of EMHs (despite having 2 Fantasmic showings that night) so that doesn't seem likely to be the reason.

It is because of the fireworks. Not Fantasmic, but the new Frozen fireworks. The area behind the GMR is a fall-out zone for the firework shells.

OP, once the fireworks are done and the area is cleared, TSM will reopen, usually at the start of EMH (usually around 10-10:15). Since the fireworks are at 9:45 on non-EMH nights, the ride closes at 8:30 and stays closed for the night.

And right now, these fireworks are only scheduled to continue until September 1st, so if your trip is after that, you won't have to deal with the early closures.
