What's the latest rumors on completion dates? Our next trip will be June 2018, extended family of 10, including grandkids to celebrate my retirement, would be nice if they were completed by then.

2018 for toy story
2019 for Star Wars

Any idea on what month yet? And do crowds get kind of crazy when they open a new section?

Husband said he wanted to do Star Wars Land next time, but wondering if we'll end up doing a trip earlier if we can't wait that long.

Disney can't even tell us when the Star Wars fireworks will be next month. So, no, there's no rumored dates beyond the general 2018 and 2019. :rotfl:

It's not even absolutely certain what year, much less what month.

as for crazy? Yes. Right after Star Wars land opens, DHS (or whatever it is called by then) will be crazy.

Well it was worth an ask lol. Looks like he'll just have to wait until the trip after! I'm not waiting another potentially 4 years!

Too early to say.

Tell me about it. For October, they announced extended hours around September 3rd and it's already October 5th and still no word if they will extend HS hours for November. I can understand about AK since they don't know about ROL date but Star Wars fireworks is already working so why can't they tell us early????

I would doubt anything will be open by mid 2018 at the pace they build things. (See AvatarLand, Disney Springs, Disney Springs Parking garage).

They may open some things though as opposed to all of it at once, but who knows.

Thinking about it now is like wondering if its going to rain two months from now.

Any high profile new attraction at the parks will be nuts. Toy Story Mania only just got somewhat reasonable and that's because they added more ride capacity. Once the entire Star Wars land goes in, I expect Hollywood Studios park will be absolute bedlam for many years. I don't even think what Harry Potter did for Universal Orlando will compare..

When they're open....they're open. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if the lands were open in 2019 or 2022. Disney is always, ALWAYS way behind their original announced opening dates.

If you believe Star Wars Land will be open in 2019 you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

NEVER plan a trip for things coming in the future.

Only plan for what is there open and operable.

If ever the lesson needed to be learned .... Rumors of Light.

But if you get lucky and something opens. pixiedust:

Toy story might be mid 2018. Every project is different and it's hard to compare. Toy story is fairly simple land for Disney.

I don't think you can compare Disney Springs or avatar to toy story. Disney Springs was a very large redo with a ton of phases in which they are still not done. Practically every building changed in Disney springs whether it was a brand new build or just some paint.

Avatar is a 3 year project with a ton of rock work. Toy story won't have that but Star Wars will.

Not always. Disney is on schedule right now and there is no reason to believe they will take 5-6 years on a land. Disney has never taken that long.

I believe Avatar Land was announced in 2011. It won't be open until 2017. That's 6 years, so it HAS taken Disney that long to build a land. When did they announce Star Wars/Toy Story land? This year, right? So 2016 + 6 years = 2022 opening date if they keep to the Avatar Land schedule.

Construction didn't begin on Avatar until 2014, so it will be 3 years, not 6. Toy Story construction started this year and contains only off the shelf rides, so it is not as complicated as Avatar.

Announced doesn't equal construction. Construction began in 2014. 2017-2014=3 years...

Construction on Star Wars and toy story is well underway so it won't be 2022.

I'm pretty sure they announced Star Wars / Toy Story Lands back in mid August of 2015 at the D23 event.
