Toy Story 4???

That article is poorly written and doesn't mention the Toy Story that Time forgot, and I almost didn't believe it, however...
It is popping up everywhere.....

The film is set to hit theaters in June 2017. “John created Toy Story and directed the first two films, and it’s great to have him back directing one of our most valuable properties,” Iger said, revealing the news in a quarterly earnings call for investors late Thursday afternoon.

Sigh... The first 3 are amazing and I'm so scared a 4th will mess it up.

Does this confirm toy story play land coming to hollywood studios? It would give them toy story play land with a movie coming out in 2017, rumored cars addition with Cars 3 hitting theaters in a few years, and the rumored Star Wars expansion that will coincide with the new movies...

Well I'm actually excited because john Lasseter is back in charge of this one unlike number 3. Pixar hasn't had an unsuccessful movie. And yes I think this will definitely coincide with openings at DHS.

That was my exact though as well. I'd just as soon see the series end where it is now. I thought it was a nice progression and I'm afraid this will just be stretching it a bit too much.

But then I read...

Yes, having John Lasseter as the director makes me hopeful that they can avoid the pitfalls.

Some time ago, my husband and I decided that a perfect Toy Story 4 would be a couple of years from now (2017 would line up well) and that it would follow a real-life path like 3 did. It's 7 years later so Bonnie would be past the toy stage BUT.....Andy would be 25.

Married.

And, the final scene after whatever adventure the Toys were in, would be Bonnie giving the toys to Andy's wife at her baby shower. To come full circle.

That was my storyline anyway!

I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I understand why they'd like to continue Toy Story; it's one of Disney's most bankable franchises so of course they'd want to keep the train rolling. But TS3 had such a great finale that another movie would cheapen it's impact.

I'd much rather see an Incredibles 2 instead of Toy Story 4. It was wrapped up really well with #3.

I think Lasseter is the best thing that has happened to Walt Disney Animation Studios since their 90's renaissance, but some of his recent decisions regarding Pixar are beyond me.

I have mixed feelings over this. I LOVE Toy Story, but like many I feel the 3rd movie tied up things PERFECTLYLY and a 4th may hurt the trilogy. I think the short movies (Toy Story of Terror, etc) and the Toon episodes are the way to go for this franchise. We still get a dose of Woody, Buzz, and gang without the worrying of a new film diluting the already highly acclaimed trilogy.

However give the news of whom is going to be taking over certain roles, I am trying to remain optimistic in hopes the story is truly a well fitting one.

I hope 3 years from now I am proven wrong about a 4th film not being needed.

Pretty much the same feelings as many others ... I have a ton of faith in Lasseter and I'd think he wouldn't do it unless they have a really great story to tell. BUT, seriously the trilogy ended so perfectly why do you really want to mess with it ??? Keep doing the shorts and TV specials if you want to explore the Toy Story universe.

I keep seeing articles talking about the things that might be (or "are") coming to DHS, and this Toy Story Play Land concept keeps coming up. I fully understand the need to have things that are kid-friendly, but for the life of me, I cannot understand the carnival/off-the-shelf attraction mentality other than "let's hurry up and get something in there," which is so short-sighted at this point. If they are going to overhaul this park, at least blow our minds with a few new ideas (Pixar, Star Wars, etc.). There is such a huge amount of Pixar properties from which to choose, and there is already a Toy Story ride and themed dining at DHS (not to mention Buzz's ride at MK)...too much of a good thing...

On the bright side, as far as I know, virtually nothing has been officially confirmed by Disney itself (lots of bus driver comments and speculation) as to what is coming in or even what else might be going out, so for now I will rest in the hope that there is still a chance for some new/true "Imagineering" to come to DHS in the next few years.

You are starting to understand where Disney likes to take shortcuts. A clone of toy story play land from Paris is an easy and cheap thing to do. Disney does need to expand Pixar place and there is a big need for rides that appeal younger children so this is their answer. It's also rumored a cars ride will be part of this. And of course micechat reported that DHS would get a returned maters junkyard jamboree. The spirit on wdwmagic says toy story Star Wars and cars are coming and kiddie rides will be involved.
