Toy Story 3

That will make my nephew soooo happy! Toy story is his favorite movie, only 2nd to Dinosaur. He loves anything with dinos.

Didn't Disney and Pixar part ways? Are they re-negotiating their contract to make this? I would love another TS! Hope it is true.

Based on the little information provided it will be produced by Disney's animation sequel team not Pixar. The Director has such credits as Hunchback II, Pocahontas II and Lion King 1 1/2. The writing team seems to have even less of a resume. Also, I thought I had read that Tom Hanks and John Ratzenberger would not sign on unless Pixar was doing the movie. That doesn't bode well for this sequel. I guess we can only wait and hope they do these great characters justice.

At the Magic of Disney Animation tour at MGM Last summer I believe the guy there told us that Disney would just be doing Toy Story 3.. Sorry I don't think it'll be as good without Pixar :(

I'll reserve judgement. I've been reading some VERY encouraging things aboug Chicken Little so far. Disney is certainly taking this project seriously given the tenuous situation with Pixar.

For those who may not have been following the negotiations, two of the MAJOR sticking points with Pixar have been:

1. Pixar wanted to void the last two pictures (The Incredibles and Cars) on the current contract and roll them into a new agreement which was much more favorable to Pixar.

2. Under the current contract, Disney and Pixar both have 50% ownership of the characters created for each film. However, Disney has creative control in terms of new films, theme park attractions, merchanising, etc. In other words, Disney makes the decisions and Pixar simply gets half of the profits.

Well, in all of the negotiations toward a new agreement Pixar has been asking Disney to sign-over full control of the characters to Pixar. And that's not just rights for new characters...it's rights for ALL EXISTING characters. Buzz, Woody, Nemo, Mike & Sully, Mr. Incredible...all of 'em. Pixar would have 100% authority in how to use the characters, and Disney would have to pay fees to Pixar every time they wanted to place a walkaround character in the theme parks or develop a new tie-in attraction.

I, for one, would rather see Pixar walk to another studio than give in to them on a demand like that.

As things stand now, Disney is well within their rights to develop Toy Story 3 under their own banner. As for the actors' participation, everything I have read indicates a "wait and see" attitude on their part. If a worthy script is developed, I think people will start jumping on the bandwagon. Then it's just a question of whether the animation department can do a Pixar-like job.

Yes, Disney has the rights to Toy Story, so they will make a Toy Story 3.

I have seen a lot of trailers for "Chicken Little" which will be a Disney CG film and I think it looks like it will be good. I love Toy Story so much, It will be great and be a hit no matter what!!!

I am not so worried about the animation part of the movie. Based on the visuals of Chicken Little I think they will be pretty good. My fear is, can Disney do a story was well as Pixar at this point. Their track record with sequels is extremely unwhelming IMHO. Pixar does stories the way Disney used to. Hopefully, Disney can get it right this time.

Disney should have bought out Pixar when they were small enough to be bought.

Other than Lelo and Stitch (from the now-closed Orlando studio), what has Disney produced in the last decade that can even come close to Pixar? I don't know about the right or wrong of it, but Disney looks to lose big time from this split. I just hate to see them accept being the second best animation studio.

I heard about the possible Dreamworks deal, but Dreamworks is no Pixar.

Sorry, needed to vent.

You are right Sam, they haven't done a lot since Lilo & Stitch and with the feature animation bascially gone a lot of the most creative people are now working for other studios. It seems Dreamworks has had more hits recently than Disney if you don't include the Pixar made films. Disney definately should have picked up Pixar early in the game or maybe Jobs would have been a better replacement for Eisner, if he would have even considered it.

Did Lilo and Stitch do as well as the recent Pixar movies? Does the Pixar split have any influence on whether Disney will promote Pixar characters more heavily in the parks? I'm still waiting for that Monsters Inc door ride, and I would love to see some of the Toy Story or Incredibles characters at a character meal.

I love Toy Story! It would be great to have sequel #3!!

I just don't trust Disney to do a good job with it, sorry.

Of course, Jobs always said they'd never make a new deal with Disney as long as Eisner was there. Wonder if talks could begin again?
