Toxic Shock Syndrome? (men might want to skip this thread...)

Hi everyone:


I remember when TSS was "new"..... I remember hearing about the symptoms which I thought included pain or tingling in the fingers, along with the other symptoms. Well I have my period right now and I use tampons, and just a few minutes ago I started feeling some weird tingling and pins and needles type pain in the fingertips of my pinky and ring finger of my left hand. I ran to the bathroom to read in the insert in the package of tampons and it DIDN'T list "pain or tingling in the fingers" as a symptom. Am I totally cracking up or does anyone else remember this as a symptom for TSS????

I'll give the doctor a call if this doesn't go away..... but in the meantime I'm wondering if this is indeed a symptom of TSS or not....

High fever is the most noticeable symptom.

Thanks Diane. I don't feel as if I have any fever at all... Can I assume that this tingling I'm experiencing then has nothing to do with TSS?? I hope I don't sound like a hypochondriac. LOL

Tingling in the hands can be a sign of carpal tunnel syndrome. Do you spend a lot of time doing repetitive tasks like typing/using a mouse?

Isnt' there a TSS information page on the pamphlet that comes in your tampon box?

Mermaid: Yes there is. And in my original post I said that I read it as soon as I felt these pains begin, but it didn't list anything about tingling in the fingers as a symptom. I thought I had remembered it as being a symptom from years ago when TSS was first in the news. Thats why I was wondering if anyone else remembered this.

becka: I am left handed, but I use my right hand for the trackball. It's strange, I had taken DH's truck for an oil change this morning and it was when I got back that I noticed the pain, so it's not as if I had been on the computer right before this happened.

The pain is going away a little now...maybe it was a pinched nerve or something???
