In my other thread about Niagra Falls some people have mentioned your meet in May. Now not to put you on the spot...but when is your meet again???? I am thinking it's Memorial Day Weekend but I wanted to check.

Memorial Day weekend...:)
I know I know...YOUR name isn't towncrier...:o

ROFL...that's okay Todd...at least it starts with a "T" (well your real name anyway). I knew SOMEONE would tell me!!!!

Darn - we'll be there the next weekend...thought maybe I was gonna get to strike gold. Thanks!

Just change your schedule...:p
Hope to talk DW into driving up to Canada for a day or two...:)

Friday May 23 - Cedar Point in the evening (after 5PM)
Saturday May 24 - All day at Cedar Point
Sunday May 25 - All day picnic at our home in Macedonia
Monday May 26 - Breakfast at our home, then ???

That's what I figured, John! We were there the following cold, rainy weekend last summer - and were disappointed that a number of things (especially shows) weren't open yet.

With Riddlecon at CP later in the summer - I don't know if I can get away for 2 weekends at CP. Hmmm...

Uh yeah right shep...the only problem with changing our schedule is our hotel is paid for the weekend we will be there...can't give that up!!!! ;)

It was worth a shot....:jester:

Jeff has already taken off for the entire weekend we playn to go to CP, and picnic with your family....

That's great news Cindy.

Nancy - Even with season passes to CP, I never made it back up there to see any of the shows. We returned to CP after Memorial Day with our church's youth group. But it was still quite early in the season. With RiddleCON happening later in the summer, I hope that I have the opportunity to see a little bit more of what CP has to offer. Sarah and I did get to use our CP season passes at Dorney Park when we visited BarbCON, so I guess we got our money's worth out of them.

The reason for ??? on Monday is that last year Barry and Nancy (perfectmatch300) went to Six Flags after breakfast. We were thinking about joining them, but were too tired after all the hoopla of Cedar Point and our picnic. Six Flags is only about 20 minutes away from our house, so it is an option.

And John...tell me how Six Flags is. Ours is so so - dirty, grungy when all the teens are there, etc. Can you tell me a bit about it?

I will be in Orlando on those dates. One of these days, John, I will make it to one of your meets.

Katholyn

Honestly Chris, I haven't been to Six Flags since they took over Sea World of Ohio and Geauga Lake. The old Geauga Lake was a bit on the grungey side for my tastes. You might want to PM either Barry Hom or perfectmatch300 for their impressions of the park since they have actually been there since it switched ownership. The kids that they have working there are not the best and brightest. I think the better ones end up working at Cedar Point.

I can help with this, maybe... this Six Flags used to be called Geauga Lake, a smallish amusement park near the now Gone Seaworld (Sigh! I loved Sea World!)

My guess is that they combined some of the Sea World Land, and the Geauga Lake land/rides, and combined the two.

To me it will always be Geauga Lake.. and I loved Geauga Lake.

I remember when this "transformation" occurred and I was so sad in a way... but I have been told the Six Flags is newer, and fancier than Geauga Lake was.

We are planning to do Six Flags over Ohio as well.. we are getting season passes for Dorney and Six Flags so we can do both.

We "may" come to Ohio twice over the summer, since we cant swing a long drive to Florida this year... the drive from NJ/PA to Ohio is a BREEZE!

Maybe we'll just save our money and do something else. It's so hard to go to another "park" after having been to Disney - they really do spoil us you know!!! ;)

We've been Season Pass holders at Six Flags Ohio the past two years. Yes, the former Geauga Lake and the former Sea World are combined now (there's actually now a walkway between the two parks). We've gotten the passes as birthday presents from friends and like to be able to make quick trips over to the park so that DS can ride a few rides and we can walk around the park for a bit.

It doesn't even come close to Cedar Point, IMO. There's some pretty good roller coasters and a fairly nice water park (included with admission) and kids area (themed after Looney Tunes), but the park in general is pretty much like a lot of Six Flags parks (e.g. kind of dirty and not very well thought out). And now that they've taken over the Sea World side, that part is kind of going downhill as well. They haven't put much money into the shows and attractions on that side and, starting last year, began putting more midway-type rides over there. I assume that their plan is to eventually eliminate all the shows and replace everything with more rides.

I would save your money, especially if you're going to Cedar Point for the day. Go to the Science Center or the MetroPark Zoo for the day instead. :)

The one in Geauga, Oh(Six Flags) is the same. When we were there 2 years ago, it was filthy.Restrooms were almost" un-useable".
Teenagers were walking around with out shirts(boys-;) ). We will never go back there, we only went to try it after take over by Six Flags, and it was my company's(GM) picnic.
I wouldn't go there if they gave me "free passes" for the whole summer. When you are used to "Cedar Point"

and WDW you tend to realize how dirty, filthy, etc some places are.
We are only 2 hours away from Cedar point and 1 hr away from Six Flags........but believe me , I will gladly drive the 2 hours any day.;)

Cp is much better and the Zoo in that area is pretty nice. Those are my mother's words, and she isn't an amusement park person.
