Towncar? Mears? Help!!!!!!

DH and I will be needing transportation from the airport to ASMo and vice versa. What should we do? I'm leaning toward a towncar, but I don't know which company to use. Tiffany? Cartier? FL Travel? Is Mears okay? I'd like for our transportation costs to be around 100 or less. Please help this flying newbie! Thanks!

Mears will work if you don't mind perhaps taking the chance on your trip taking longer than if you used one of the towncar services.

As to which towncar service, you will see good and bad posts about every one of the services you mentioned.

All other things being equal, which they aren't, I would support the towncar service which supports the DIS boards, FL Tours.

One hint: no matter which towncar service you use, if you don't use Mears, when you make contact with the driver, make SURE that it is your towncar service that meets you. There have been reports of "gypsy" drivers meeting travelers at the airport, and misrepresenting themselves.

How do you go about making sure?

Ask to see a business card or business ID.

According to another post, the front license of the car will also have the company name on it, but I didn't notice this (and wasn't looking for it) on our trip.

As to Mears, we opted out of Mears after hearing "horror stories" on this board. We used Cartier instead, and were very pleased with them.

Another couple had used Mears, arrived at the airport 2 hours before we did, and got to the hotel at the same time. They said that it took 3 full hours from arrival at the airport, to arrival at the hotel.

We have had great service from Tiffany over the past few years. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE MEARS!!!!!
It is an insane situation with people going to many other hotels. The ride is noisy and uncomfortable. As someone posted, it could take many hours to get to your hotel. The towncar driver will take you directly to your hotel and help with your luggage. It is the only way to start a magical Disney vacation.

We have had great service from Tiffany. Their drivers have always been on time with clean cars. We didn't have a problem paying with a credit card either.

Hi have used Tiffany Town Car 3x and were extremely happy with the service. And with 4 of us it's only a few dollars more than mears and thats just because I like to tip well. As for the "gypsy" cars/drivers. When DD and I went for a quick trip in June the TTC driver gave us his business card and told us to wait for him and if anyone else came by saying they were there for us to turn them down and just wait for him. Felt a little weird but I guess you can never be too careful.

I booked with Trans Orlando Towncar Service, they were highly recommended by my travel agent.

We had a get trip with ********. I liked that in the confirmation email I got, the driver was copied, so I could see that I was getting a driver that people had complimented.

We used to do Mears years before learning better!! They organize the seating (after waiting forever for the strategizing!!) by order of drop off. We would be last at CB (after going to Intl Gateway hotels) so we were CRAMMED into the back seat of the shuttle with all of our carryon piled on top of us! It took forever to get there. They do the outlying hotels first so if staying at the INtl Gateway hotels it might not be so bad..but I think it's a toss up. We have used Tiffany the last 3 years and always had excellent service. When paying the driver our 1st year, the fare was $75 w/the coupon and we handed him a $100, he said thank you and put it in his folder. So he tipped himself $25!! I think he should have attempted to give change back and allow us to tip him properly. We are generous tippers so it was not the money but just the way he did it. I've read a standard tip is $10 each way. So then we felt obligated to tip again on the return!! So you may want to have exact amount ready..but I think they take credit cards where as Fl Tours does not.

We just went a couple of weeks ago and used Tiffany Town Car. They were on time and very courteous. The vehicle was immaculate. I would highly recommend them. It was $90 plus tip for a round trip.
