Hi
Flying into Sanford from UK in October, at the moment we have Mears transportation booked (shuttle) with our holiday company. We are considering cancelling this and booking private transport can anyone reccommend towncar company that will take us directly to POFQ ? And do return trip on our last day or,is it better just to get a taxi ?

Thanks

Viv

We were able to secure reservations with a towncar company for $180 roundtrip from Sanford to WDW. If you are going one way, it seemed the price was then usually a tad higher. You save if you book roundtrip. FL towncar is the company name and they do have a website. We used them years ago (in the early to mid 90s!) and then recently began again as husband uses an ECV which limits the usefulness of a rental car at WDW. We've always had good experiences with them and they've always been reliable.

I would not recomend a taxi back to Sanford. It's a very long drive and would cost a lot. I think a car service is the best option for both ways if you don't want Mears (I know they will also return you to Sanford)

Thanks for that this is our first trip to WDW and my DD and i have never travelled on our own before I think we both feel that a direct car journey to the Magic will be more relaxing after a 10 1/2 hr flight do they meet you at bag pick up ?

Thx again

I have used Sunray Transportation for several years from MCO to WDW, but they also do Sanford to WDW. They will meet you at the baggage area and will handle your luggage to the car. They are great and the perfect way to start a perfect vacation.

Sunray is not listed as a permit holder at the Sanford Airport.

Looks like FL is good I thik i will try to get a quote

Thanks again

Sorry for getting on here again but need to correct a few things. Yayagoofy and Edd are being deceitful for I assume they derive alot of business out of the Sanford Airport and they want to make it look like you need somekind of permit to pick up passengers. YOU DO NOT! All companies are allowed to pickup passengers at the Sanford airport. The issue of the permit is a cost issue only. If you are a company that does a lot of business out of Sanford Airport then it is financially condusive for you to get permitted. If you are a company that only occasionally does business out of the Sanford Airport then it is more cost effective to pay just a daily fee for the day you are there to pick up your customers- NO PERMIT REQUIRED! Thankyou. Bob/Sunray

Good thinking Bob. The permit allows an airport to quarantee you are fully licensed and have submitted the proper insurance and liability papers that cover that airport in case of any type of accident or problems. I don't think I was being deceitful when I stated Sunray was not listed as a permit holder at the Sanford Airport. That is a true fact. As far as the Harvey friend goes (yaya), I don't think he does very much business in the Sanford Airport. Most of his business is done in Orlando. There was not a thing deceitful about his post as all he did was to set up a link to the Sanford airport.

Now let me tell you another advantage in being permitted at the Sanford airport. Permitted vehicles do not pay the $10.00 and $20.00 pick up fee like those who are not permitted. To the companies who choose to pay on each pick up, that fee is probably added to the fare of the intended passenger. The permitted vehicles pay $50.00 or $75.00 for the year. If a non-permitted vehicle picks up 20 times in a year they will pay either $200.00 or $400.00 as compared to the $50.00 or $75.00 a permitted vehicle pays. That sure doesn't look like cost effectiveness to me. There may be other reasons a company does not get permitted at Sanford.

Bob, Your assumption is wrong. I'm retired, was in the transportation business for 30 years in Central Florida. I keep in touch with many people in the business, as well as the rules & regulations of the airports, and the city. The companies listed on the Orlando Sanford Airport website have permits issued by the Sanford Airport Authority to pick up passengers there. If a transportation company does not have a permit, yes they will be charged a "daily fee" (as you called it) to pick up there.

...As far as the Harvey friend goes (yaya)....

Edd, I have no clue what you are talking about regarding "Harvey".

Yes, by the Sanford Airport simply accepting cash pay off's to let transportation companies (Non-Permitted) to pick up there, without insurance documentation (showing the airport as additionally insured), etc... The Sanford Airport is at GREAT risk of liability. I wonder if Larry Dale and the airport board of directors realize this?

We use Ed. He is the greatest! A wealth of Disney knowledge and big, super comfy SUV for the same price as a towncar. We cannot imagine a vacation to WDW without using ED to get to and from WDW from Sanford. We highly recommend him.:thumbsup2

Here is his info:

Thanks guys for all this info
My DD and I are quite nervous as this is our first transatlantic flight on our own and it's all quite confusing, the more I see and read the more I'm inclined to get a town car meet and greet. I will have just got over receiving Radiotherapy for 6 weeks and don't quite how much the flight will have taken it out of me. On our return to Sanford on our last day how much time should I allow for 5.45pm flight back to UK with a pick up from POFQ ?
Thx
Viv

The ailines going overseas ask that you be there approximately 3 hours ahead of the flight. I would say you should leave WDW about 1330 or 1400.

I want to apoligize to Bob of Sunray. For months I have thought that Yayagoofy was his Disboard name. I found no convincing evidence that I was wrong and was told by some people at the airport that was him.

However, after reading the current posts by Yayagoofy I am firmly convinced that I was wrong. I am sorry if I have caused him any conveniece or problems because I referred to Bob at Sunray as Yayagoofy.

Fellas, First off could care less about the inner workings of the Sanford permitting Process. I know I am legal along with the rest of our vehicles, so to just be able to pay the daily fee and not have to put up with that hassle is fine with us. How the Sanford Airport deals with it is their problem not mine. The real issue is that you Yayagoofy directly implied to the previous post that ANY company not permitted at the Sanford Airport was not allowed to pick up there-that is false. If you had included in your most recent post "if a transportation company does not have a permit, yes they will be charged a daily fee to pick up there" or something like this in your original post I would have left you out of my response to begin with. Edd. You directly implied to one of my customers that we (sunray) were not allowed to pick up at the Sanford Airport and you can sugar coat it all you want but you were being deceitful! I have been to the Sanford airport 4 times this year. The year is almost half over, so assuming I go up there another 4 times thats $80 in daily fees. The permit is $75 so for an extra $5 to not have to go through the permit hassle sounds like a cost effective no brainer to me. Thankyou. Bob/Sunray

We're using Tiffany Towncars. We've always been extremely pleased with there prompt service.

We're using them again on Tuesday.

Bob, respectfully, please "quote" my words in any future responses to me.
